  5. Hi, my name is George (Dusty), I am 67 years old, and I inherited this disease from my father. Always have had old cars, trucks, motorcycles and boats. My current ride is a '50 Dodge Coronet club coupe. A running and driving project. Since I upgraded the brakes to a dual master cylinder last winter, this is probably one of my best driving cars yet! 0519181626.jpg 0519181041.jpg

Been so into cars from 13 years old when Growbowski and Valley Custom Ray Vega 38 Ford tub were at my high school, imprinted my brain and set me on this path. Have a 29 Ford roadster with a Buick nailhead too. Very fortunate life!

  12. It is a lot lower and wider than a Model A or Chevy of the same year. With the six, it is a lot more powerful, too. Chevies were sixes, but had very weak rear axles.

Ok, I went through and removed a bunch of off topic content. Just because Ron is asking for pictures is not a reason to post off topic cars, motorcycles and cars with large diameter modern wheels....

Hi, I’m Cliff Ramsdell. I have pared myself down to just one project now since all the kids have married, bought houses and we now have grandkids I don’t have anytime to do stuff since I have 4 houses to help take care of along with 3 grandkids, which is all great.

My car, 1928 Ford model A Tudor. 3” chop, 276” flathead, 39 gearbox, 3.54 gear. I pick away at stuff all year long and enjoy driving it well into the season, just had it out the other day.

    Thanks,
    Cliff Ramsdell

IMG_0057 (1).JPG IMG_0243 (1).JPG IMG_0546.JPG IMG_0547.JPG Hello, My name is John and I am a Lifelong Carnut, born into it, guess I was lucky. Picture of my current ride and the family Midget racer 1948-1974 raced, under restoration by me. IF I would have spent the time working on the Midget that I have spent here on the HAMB, car would be done, But will say I enjoy my time here with fellow HAMBer's. Check my albums for some car history on me, Agree with statement, no pictures, didn't happen. GREAT THREAD.

:D Great thread.Unfortunately,I only have an OT pickup/DD.Hopefully,one day I can find a 53 or 54 Studebaker coupe to play with.I`m 72 at present, and my Dad started me on the way by teaching me mechanical maintainence on our lawn equipment when I was 10 years old.Went from there to motor scooters, motorcycles, cars, light trucks, marine, aircraft and farm equipment. And have enjoyed every minute. Thanks for having me along on the H.A.M.B.
    Good luck.Have fun.Be safe.

    A 56 Chevy I owned quite a few years ago. This is a factory RHD 4 door Bel-Air .

    56 Chevy side.PNG

The 56 was a little bit easier to obtain than the 57.
It took me 35 years to go from a 56 to a 57 which is my latest project. [this time a 2 door]

    Hi Leo
You're lucky your dad taught you when you were young.

My mum didn't want dad spending "housekeeping money" on racing, so 1 day he backed up a truck full of old dead engines and dumped it on the lawn.
Then he paid me and my brother $1 day to strip them for scrap metal to finance his racing. [That's how I learned about mechanics [IMG]]
Mum wasn't amused with all the grease and crap everywhere.

My advice for you Leo regarding a Studebaker Coupe, [at 72 years] is to go and find the nicest one you can and buy it.[borrow the $$ if needed]
    And enjoy it..........
If you ponied up $30K for one and used it for 10 years [3652 days] , that is only $8-21 day [plus you can sell it any time, when you've had enough]
You couldn't rent a classic for that [If I could, I would rent not buy]

Remember "Today is the youngest you will ever be"

:D Hi Kerrynzl.Brother you got that right.Well a feller can dream. If ya ain`t got a dream,ya ain`t got nothing.People just have to remember where the dream ends and reality begins. And usually, that`s when the alarm clock goes off in the morning:eek::p.
    Good luck.Have fun.Be safe.

Maybe around 40 years ago, I saw the only Dodge sedan delivery rod (33?)I ever saw..... in a rod magazine. 2 brothers that ran a huge farm built it during winter months when snowed in. It was a high end build like yours, and I never forgot it. I'd bet you maybe saw it. Never seen one since except yours, so no, i'm not tired of seeing it. :)

back then, there was a local 35 Plymouth sedan delivery rod which is even rarer, and was on a 2 door sedan body type (from the factory) which I really liked as it was shorter. One hamber in Mass? built one from a 33/34 2d sedan that I wish I could also do...but my building days are done.

Hey I'm Joe, I run a small branding company in Milwaukee ( www.alyricalplace.com ) and have collected hot rods most of my adult life (born in 1962). My collection is now 7 cars, don't know how it got so big, this is too many and I will probably start thinning the herd in the next few years. All of my cars are driven regularly. A few were built by notable HAMBers (Chris Casny and Bobby Green among them). The 32 is real Henry with dry lakes history to the 1940's and I feel very fortunate to have found it. The Vette I inherited from my dad, and has been in the family for a long time. Not really a Vette guy but it's got some sentimental value, and honestly it's starting to grow on me. Hard to argue with a hopped up 283/4 speed. Even though I don't have any gold chains or satin jackets with Corvette logos.

Ray May from Rochester, NY and I guess the car bug hit me and my Brother when we were building models as kids. Dad rarely got to use his garage because Ralph and I always seemed to be creating something. Many never made it to the road but we also learned selling a project can help finance more and sometimes better projects. I have been a member of Rochester Street Rods since 1972. My first loves were 1937 Chevy cars and trucks of which I have had several. My builds are mostly home built, are drivers, have spanned years from the 30's to late model and often included input from my Wife, Son and Daughter. Locally we have always had a great network of car building friends who like to help and share experience with each other. Over the years my builds often included changes that appealed to me and made my ride just a little bit different. I spent 32 years working for Eastman Kodak, Ran a Salvage yard with 2 partners for 13 years and now I enjoy being retired and love sharing my creativity with the Grandchildren.

Love that primered Panel truck! Did you stretch the cab on the other primered pick up?

The 48 Chevy panel was very solid and originally used by a Fire Department. We had a Jeep Cherokee interior in it and would take it camping. Sold it and built a 37 Chevy Panel. After camping at the 1980 Nationals we decided the kids needed windows so I turned a 37 Chevy Sedan Delivery into a Station Wagon style window Delivery and as the kids got older eventually built the Chopped 37 Chevy Sedan that they learned to drive and I still have. The 37 Chevy Kingcab Pickup was another functional one of design idea. Using other parts trucks I had, I stretched the cab and mounted it on an S-10 chassis. This one turned out to be a great road traveler making several trips from New York to Michigan for the Woodward Dream Cruise. My Son in Michigan is the current owner of this truck and sometimes drives it to his job at GM.
