Event Coverage 2018 “what did you buy/save this year?”

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Chris, Dec 11, 2018.

  1. well, another year is in the books. In years past I have done a thread about the cars and trucks we have saved over the course of that year. Let’s try it again. What did you buy/save in 2018?

I know this will make me look crazy, it was an F-100 year for sure. But I kept upgrading trucks and some were bought for parts. A few model A’s thrown in there, too. Here’s hoping 2019 is just as good. Let’s see what you tin hunters scraped up!

This little heap came from the HAMB Classifieds. I have to build my new shop, then she is next.

Tried to downsize this year but still ended up dragging home 3 more. 26 T that belonged to a 97 year old farmer who cobbled it together so he could drive it a couple times before he passed away. 56 chevy older resto that sat in a field for 10 years, hopefully my daily driver next summer. And hauled home a 95% complete 36 chevy pickup in pieces that's been stored inside for almost 40 years 20180901_192824.jpeg 20180819_204128.jpeg 20180719_210542.jpeg

bought this junk 1955 T-Bird to bring back to life, if I live long enough! I bought a new rotiserie to do the work on, best thing I ever bought. now I can set down and do a lot of the floor replacement. I am 73 years old, so sitting is best for the old joints!

Bought myself a new compressor at Tractor Supply while it was on sale to keep up with my Barrel Blaster. Also a couple of late Merc's with O/D trans and an almost complete 8ba with EAB heads and adjustable lifters. 20181212_081311.jpg 20181212_081448.jpg 20181212_081434.jpg 20181212_081355.jpg

Myself, nothing. But I helped my cousin drag this shortbox home (traded a case of Bud Light for it). As of this morning he'd flipped it for $700 haha.

Although I did try to nail this one down but was unable. Owner told me he and his son were planning on building it...here's hoping they weren't just pipe dreaming (I'll inquire about it again down the road.)

    Ford truck, Merc endgate.
Wouldn't be surprised if it was used for hauling grain and the stock gate was modified to have a grain door.
I tried to channel my inner Chris and get it home but it was not to be.

  21. Front fenders have the merc trim, grill bars look Merc too?

You're far better off NOT being a junk junky like me

  22. I was good this year. Only rescued a 74 econoline and a 72 galaxie. Both to cheap to pass up. Other than that. I'm just trying to sell stuff.

Right, the fender trim. I noticed that when we first stumbled upon it and then forgot about it. Honestly, I don't know...the paint all matches pretty good but literally every truck around here seemed to be the same color so who knows.

  27. I got rid of a bunch of stuff and only bought NEW parts this year.

  28. Only HAMB friendly vehicles were a ‘64 Fury (not Sport Fury) convertible that is a real 426 Street Wedge 4 speed (if anyone has a line on a bench seat 4 speed shifter or an air cleaner please let me know)........ and a ‘59 Catalina convertible that a buddy and I drove back from Colorado to Edmonton in August......every person needs to do a road trip where you don’t know whether you’re going to make it back or not. Every strong noise, weird vibration, etc. caused a look of fear....... until we got to high fives when we were within free towing distance (100 miles) from home. lol

I swore I wasn't going to do another car... was at my buddy's helping him work on his garage after Florence came through and flooded it out. He has about 7 Metropolitans and a gazillion parts. He says how about you take that 1954 Metropolitan convertible and build it into something. SO you know how it goes...
