My coupes signature would be the removable roof insert for open car feel, the attention to detail in the build performed by Jim(Jake) Jacobs,Pete Eastwood(Pwood) and the late Stan VanAmburg. Oh and the occasional black marks at various stop lights...………..

  3. Paint and chop will probably be my signature. Even though it's not that great. Inspired by Jim Lytles 32 chopped full fendered 5W from about 1956. Modified my flames a bit but similar 47580419_10157991591339689_4872464973667762176_n.jpg Another Cool Flame job.jpg IMG_1266.JPG

    Okay, the most noticeable feature.

The 302 Jimmy 6. If the hood is open at a cruise, quite a few grey haired guys stop, look, and tell stories of the one they had, or remember at the drags or circle track back in the day. That or the 6volt horns on 12 volts. DSCN1033.JPG

  8. For Taboo the grille, headlights and tail lights are what all the older car show attendees talk about, those are the mods that stick out to people that remember the back in the early 60's when it would be parked at Sunset High School, Skyline Restaurant, a car show or just cruising Portland and Beaverton.

Thing most probably hated on the car is the suicide doors.

The non car person lately has been baffled by the frenched antenna's

The younger car folks are just flat baffled by the 6x2's since most have hardly even seen a 4 bbl carb. So they cant figure out how it all works and runs without a computer.

My car's signature has to be the old dirt track look. Most people comment on how it reminds them of the "The old dirt track races of their memories."
The next thing many notice is that the plates are often not from the state the car is sitting in. "Did you drive it all the way here?" Yes. Gene

My signature would probably be the sound. A 471 blown flathead and a quick change. It's like listening to an 8 track tape with the azimuth off, playing 2 tracks of Zeppelin at the same time.

  15. For me it would have to be the Speed Sport scoop made for me by Red Greth with his original 1957 mold. It's signed and dated on the inside. Then it would be the 6-71 built for me by Gene Mooneyham. Both of these men are heroes of mine.

My BIG regret is I CANT POST PICTURES---My grandson managed to post few, but he lives 85 miles away, and none since then. My Avatar truck has a signature all it's own, I built the truck back in '04 with the theme in mind of a '48 Chevy P/U survivor. The paint color was an accident, matching the color primer I found it on it 1999, when I bought it. The wheels are Mountain Dew Green, caps and rings are era appropiate. The door logo sort of evolved. ELDERODDERS. As in Elder---old, Rodders---as in Hot Rodders. The paint looks like old, faded enamel, 'cause it is, sort of. It's Centari Enamel, but I used an old timers trick. Back in the old days, when you bought a new car it was pretty shiney, ad layers of wax made it really shiney. Ad 7 0r 8 years it dulled down, buffing didn't help much, it just increased the chance of breaking through to primer. Say in 1952, your 46 Chevy gets a fender hit, you have it repaired, but the new paint is a lot shinier than the rest of the car. CRAP --really doesn't look right. In the old days a GOOD painter used, or made up a FLATTENER (Talc, as in, I believe, talcum powder, was mixed with clear enamel) This was added to the ratio of paint/thinner, until a proper dullness was achieved, It takes a lot of experious to get this right.----GOT ALL THAT? SO, when I painted it, I used a flattener. VOILA--Old, semi faded paint. Other than looking too low for the period, (sorry, stance is REALLY important). Interior is 50's clean and subtle in light green and dark green trim. After 74,000 miles since I built it, even the road rash is appropiate to the original theme. A neat, old, survivor.

The Riviera has to be the headlights. I like machine finished, so for the '34 and the Diamond T, it's the dash inserts.

  19. Yeah, I've got a set of 6 volt trumpet horns (on 12 volts) on my 41 Ford truck. When I blow that horn dead people come back to life. ;)
