I get that all the time with my '57 Plymouth. I've even overheard people saying my old beater is some kind of custom car. And then people read the nameplate and say, "Suburban?! What the..? This thing ain't no Chevy."

Oh well, it gives them a chance to learn something new.

What surprises me is when someone calls my Parklane a Nomad it's funny how many people don't have a clue and think all station wagons are Nomads

rear.jpg driver side (Medium).jpg These type of cars have never been my deal, I am just to much of a Hot Rod guy. Now with that said early this year I made a trade for a 1953 Ford Ranch Wagon, traded a glass 34 Ford Coupe project for it. The coupe just also was not my deal as I just hated the fact it was a glass car. I made the trade with the intentions of just flipping the wagon. My old lady had other plans however.

Now it is on the lift in the middle of an engine swap. I have had a 1965 327 that came out of a fire truck just setting in the shop for years, got it apart and now rebuilt and ready to go into the wagon. This was the easiest engine swap I have ever done, the 327 was just made for that Ford engine compartment. After messing around with this bastard step child of a car I have grown to really like it, and it is a fun project.

I also would like to comment on the Nomad reference. The other day some guy stopped by the shop and was looking at my cars. He see's the Ranch Wagon on the lift and say's: " Man I didn't know Ford made a Nomad" I thought instead of bothering trying to explain to this pilgrim, I would just let it slide.

It’s ‘Deja Vu’ all over again! :D I too, have two ‘54 Conestoga wagons, in the same colors!

An ex-Champion in the OE light blue and a Commander in the same two tone scheme and trim level.......I know, I know, pics or it ain’t so...but it IS! I’ll have to take couple pics and post them to this thread.

I have a ‘60 Lark V8 Hardtop, but have been looking for a 2 dr Lark wagon as well......

Heres a really cool 57 chevy handyman wagon I sent to look at, it was too far gone but it had a 4 speed with a Hurst shifter. 20180804_145744.jpeg 20180804_145900.jpeg

Had this restored 55 Chevy Handyman in the late 80's. Recently posted a picture on another site and was contacted by a former owner who gave me more information on its history. Always liked 2door Wagons. Designed a 37 Chevy Sedan Delivery into a Family style 2door windowed Wagon, used a 210 2door Wagon for my current 56 Chevy ElCamino Conversion, recently completed a custom Gen5 Camaro Wagon and am in the process of converting a mid 60's 4door Malibu Wagon into a one of 2door Nomad style Wagon.

I think it is a ‘55 Plymouth with a Nomad roof, glass and tailgate grafted on. Too much of the rest of it is MOPAR to not be one......

What's with the side molding? No break at the door?

Looks like the one on the quarter is jammed under the one on the door .look at how the rocker is crushed and at the door mid window it is all back a good 6 inches that car took a extremely hard hit

I agree with bdynpnt that it is the angle of the photograph and lack of crisp detail that creates the impression of a single molding. I enlarged the photo and there is a coloration change just past the end of the door that suggests, to me at least, that it is not one piece, just an optical illusion. Would not be the first such ‘appearance’ that is not what it seems.

I think the angle of the shot just happens to make the molding appear to line up. You can zoom in at the original posting on Shorpy:
