I have known Joel for quite a few years and may have even taught him a couple things. You can rest assured that he has a true passion for what he’s doing. A true credit for someone his age. Something missing in many youngsters today. You have one hell of a build going and I’m anxious to see the finish. Good luck to both of you.

@47 ford I know you know this but you're in good hands with Joel. You two have a great build going in 'Jersey Girl' and it just keeps getting better and better.

Thank you for the opportunity, John! You're going to have a really neat car! Time for me to get back to work!

Thanks Jake! You definitely taught me a lot and helped fuel my interest, as well as encouraging me to follow my dreams in the field of hot rodding/ custom cars!

Thanks, Dave! It does keep getting better and better!

Another full day on the grille treatment. Minimal bodywork will be needed after all is said and done. It's still going to take some fine tuning. I had hoped to get the metal work done today but I had a few interruptions. Pictures are from start to finish. I hope y'all like it!

Thank you! It's just a rolling sculpture! I look at it as an art project so this custom stuff is more fun than work. Work is putting in new rockers and body mounts!

Got some skirts in the mail today! More bodywork is scheduled for this week. Hopefully some primer, too! 20181203_145228_HDR.jpg

Hey fellas! It's been awhile since I posted anything about the '47! It has been a couple of months between Christmas, getting sick after Christmas, going to Phoenix for one of my chop classes, and thrashing on the coupe to get some progress before going to Phoenix again next week... But here we are!
Still have a long way to go, as now I will be painting the car! It was fun getting it out of the shop, it started up and sounds great! It looks good between my '40 sedan and my friend Jon's '53 Olds!
    Enjoy!

Looking real good. Your work is, indeed, admirable. Thanks from a gear head in training.

Why were the drip rails removed?
Would look much better with them.

I think they are old skirts. They are missing the rubber and have some lightly pitted areas. They were a bit flat, I fit them and have some finishing to do on them.

Thank you very much! Will do.
Thank you! It's funny how opinionated some people are about drip rails. To further my explanation of why they were removed, I think that a drip rail is the "base line" of a roofline. The height of the roof above the drip rail should be proportioned well with what is left below the drip rail, all the way to the end of the drip rail. I will agree that some cars look better with a drip rail. Furthermore, if you follow any of the other cars that I have chopped, 10 of the last 12 have retained their drip rail and it has, in my opinion, enhanced the roofline. However, with the era that this car is built to capture, such cars as the Marcia Campbell Ford and the Jesse Lopez '41 Ford were major influences and the look at the time was to smooth out any and all unsightly protrusions that distract from the overall lines of the car.
In this case, I believe this customizing theory works well.

I requested them to be removed, in my opinion it looks better.

But everyone is an individual and I respect your opinion.
