Still deciding on a future for my 365.
I just got it mounted in an engine running stand so I hope to hear it run soon.
They sure are a wide motor across the shoulders...

Not mine but I've always liked Caddys!
My first exposure was around 1956, my cousins friend had a 53 Stude with a Caddy motor. A rubber burning son of a gun! DSC01102-001.JPG DSC01837.JPG DSC07243.JPG DSC08096.JPG IMG_4369.JPG

From what you have shown, it looks to be a good deal.

I have been advised that rebuild parts for these engines is hard to find and expensive. I agree with the expensive part but it looks like Kanter, Egge, and even sources on ebay (Falcon) have basic. master, and deluxe overhaul kits kits available. Have any of you Caddy guys had trouble getting parts such as pistons, rings, valves, guides, etc.?

The pistons are pretty much crap, but most of the gasket sets are decent. I have talked to a lot of the piston mfg and they are happy to build a set of custom forged aluminum slugs. The price tag is around $800-1000.

Isky, Howards, Comp and Steve Long still grinds cams for them. Just make sure the cores are available. Apparently there is one supplier of Cadillac cam cores.

Here's a thread I started that has a lot of other threads covering Caddys imbedded.

  21. Piston rings on a 4.000 caddy are the same as 4.000 327 chevy . Chevy valves can be machined to fit in caddy , worn valve guides can be knurled to specs. I used 327 vette solid lifters in my caddy with Smith adjustable push rods .

Nice to see all the weight being put to good use.
Mine is a throw back with Isky roller, Jahns, Mallory Magspark, early shinny stuff with the exception of the O'Brian filter cover. T-5 makes long trips fun at 22mpg.[ Caddy in 37.JPG P1010032.JPG Cab at Ty-Rods front.jpg

To answer Roothaug, I used an adapter from Bentsen Transission Center, Ham Lake, MN 55304. 1-763-767-4480. Comes with hi torque starter. Also used a GM truck bellhousing with the throwout arm on the passenger side with a hydraulic slave cylinder so I could use the stock 1940 or so brake pedal assy. Bellhousing 15562385, clutch slave 15616089, fork 12385352, TO bearing 15613306
