Well here we go again. I sell my other coupe and I wonder around here after work and keep telling my self I’ll never do it again. A month later I’ve got my head stuck in the classifieds looking for that deal. Well here we go again. This one has had a few different people start and stop on it several times. Well I’ll put my twist on it and see if I can finish it. I’ve got it home and have started.

Plans are to chop at least 3 inches
    Clean up finish panel work
    Steel wheels
Sbc or what ever pops up that’s interesting. Thinking electronic fuel injection since we’ve fixing to go to 15 % ethanol

What did it set you back? I hope to find a body and frame someday, but I have no idea what a Ford car set up is worth...

To answer the question about how it set me back on cost. Well it’s like in high school we don’t discuss what happens on a date. it would have been a good deal if the frame would have been usable. The frame rails needed to be put in a jig and by the time I build a jig and the time put into it I just decided to go head and get one built. I started this about a month ago so here’s some more progress. Im going to try flipping the firewall

Took the doors off yesterday for the first time. I understand why they sell oversized pins and bushing repair kits for them now. I was able to drill all of the pins out but one. That one the starter 1/8 dill broke about 1'' down. Looking for suggestions and getting out. Or should i just move on with a different hinge.

I split the hinge tube with a cut off wheel. Heat it up and spray WD40 into as it cools. Then drive the pin out. Weld it back together and re-drill the hole for the new pin. I tried everything else known and mentioned on the HAMB and this is the best way to get out frozen pins and in the end the least amount of work.

Cut the hidge yesterday and drove the pin right out. Welded it back up and got the doors stripped and fitted back in place.

Well pushed it out side and stripped the paint and welded the visor in. Starting to look like I’m getting somewhere.

Does anyone know how far to set the perches on the axel so the 40 spring will set down correctly and give me 3 inches between the axel and frame. Right now without the body setting on the frame I have 7 inches. I tacked the perches in at 44 inches as posie suggested.

Only squad 2 inches I need at least another 2 inches to get the look that the tire is about a inches from the rear well. I cut the perch loose and mocked it up to see what it looks like.

Do you have your engine and transmission to set into the chassis? I recommend getting almost all the weight in the car before making a final decision on changing what you have.

Who built the frame? I like it. Also what are the straps from the top of the frame to the K member for? Nice start .

  19. Yes, have to consider weight of the engine, trans, finished body with interior, gas tank, etc. Probably better if it's a tad high without anything installed.

Looks good, I have to get started on the coupe I've got ratholed in the barn.

But it did exist in the late 1950's, so....

Do you consider the wooden wheels traditional?

Hey I know. I’ll flop around here like a fish out of water for a little while trying to make a decision on which drive train to put in it. I flipped the firewall around thinking I would put a old hemi in it. I’m looking

Build the motor mounts and got the engine and trans installed . With the body and engine installed it compressed the rear 40spring about 1 and a quarter inches.

Also took the body back off and cut the angle iron someone had turned the sub rails in a solid mounting surface. Now the body sets down over the rails just right .
