    Hey J,
Wow, another cool trip and story in some familiar places. Your 55 goes and goes...kudos to your lifestyle and writings. They are fun to read along with the photos. Your upcoming trip from LA to Monterey will be another cool roadtrip. Since the Big Sur landslide is fixed, for now, it will be the great winding road all along the coastline. We are all anxiously awaiting your links, story and photos.

We just got back from Santa Barbara over Thanksgiving. The Highway 1 trip through Malibu is open, but slightly slower, due to the reconstruction of poles and structures damaged from the fires. It was disheartening to see such a cool area black and burned out. (The restroom at "SECOS" was even burned down!) Fires work in mysterious ways, one stands untouched, while next door is totally burned to the ground.

Have a great trip up the coast and of course, have fun...

One thing we have wanted to do again, is go back that same route you will be taking soon. We had completed it back in 1966, 68 and two times in the early 70s. That coastal drive is the most memorable in all of our trips. It was part of the honeymoon route that lasted two weeks in 1968, including stopping at Nepenthe for a well deserved meal outdoors, while looking down at the water.

Stay safe on that curvy drive...

We drive this stretch of Route 66 every other weekend going to the River house. Each time we go through I think of how this would be a perfect destination (other than Summer time) for a meet. The owner of Amboy (owns Juan Pollo Chicken) is car friendly too. If you're not afraid of actually running your car and it getting a tad dirty, it'd be a great time.
