Worthless observation: He's wearing the same Pendleton wool shirt made famous on a Beach Boys' album cover.
Hey D, This movie actually portrayed Tommy Ivo. It was like a giant puzzle to be put back together. How fun was that? It was interesting that still in 1965, Pendleton shirts were still popular. Pendletons have been around before the Beach Boys and in Long Beach, they were the shirt/jacket of the times. A lot of high school teenagers wore these from the early 50's, daily, to school. The local hot rod/cruiser guys had Pendleton shirts as did older guys, too. My dad's favorite long sleeve shirt was his Pendleton that was always worn on his fishing trips at the shoreline, deep sea or at the Mammoth/Crowley Lake areas. They fit perfectly under his warm down jacket for those frozen April opening day trout fishing events. This was in the early 50s! Our parents loved the local department stores downtown as they always carried the Pendletons in all colors and styles. There were even Pendleton blankets for picnics and TV watching throws. In 2016, we gave away an original Pendleton blanket in its clear case that we had used on picnics and outdoor concerts, forever. The recipients were friends that liked collectible items. Jnaki The only problem with Pendleton shirts was that they were not for misty, foggy, or rainy weather. Once wet, they smelled like a wet dog or animal. Wool clothing does that, but who was counting back then...they were popular. In 1959 some kid in a red Pendleton shirt was wandering around Lions Dragstrip, taking a break from wrenching, movie making, eating hot dogs, and driving. Get closest to the starting line for the best dragstrip experience was the mode of the day. A kid in a red Pendleton getting close to the action... There is that kid with the red Pendleton standing around doing nothing but enjoying the drags. Talk about a ring side seat for the activities. It was up close and personal... Film taken by James Nak. (I was on my daily lunch break and in the “wandering around” stage, that afternoon.)
