Thanks for that memory Deuce Daddy. When I was a kid my great Aunt and Uncle had a farm which had a sulphur water well and the house stank of it. Even thought they said it was ok to drink I couldn't understand that cause all the taps in their house turned black from it. But they both lived into their nineties. I can't even imagine trying to explain sulphur water to kids today.

Same here. I grew up on well water, still have it in fact. And there's nothing better than good well water. As a kid, one of my friend's had that gawd-awful sulphur water at there house. Kool-Aid couldn't even make me stomach the swill....nada.:D

When I was a freshman in high school, a senior had a white ‘61 Impala 2dr hardtop that was super clean and had Ansen slot wheels. White with blue interior and blue side insert. I assumed it had a hot V8; I was shocked to hear it drive by one day and realized it was a six!

In my younger days, I didn’t have much use for straight sixes, particularly 235s. When I see a survivor like this nowadays, I’m likely to spend more time checking it out than I will on the next tricked out, snazzy rod I encounter. Go figure.

Well,------At 86 I sure remember that awful smell, so we used to keep a cold jug filled in the refer. That was in Inglewood, Ca. during WWII.

My aunt and uncle's farm was located near a small town in Ontario Canada called Cottom. They also had a party line phone which they shared with 5 others farms in the area which most were other family members. You had to wait for "your ring" till you answered the phone. My aunt was a real busy body and would listen in on other people's calls.

There’s something I miss that you don’t see as much of these days - mom and pop businesses interspersed in residential areas. Not just the corner groceries, but also little places like the one across the street in Gary’s picture. (On the right and on the left).Or maybe they were easier to spot when I walked or rode my bike everywhere.

In the early 60's I'd visit my Grandmother who lived in a small rural Willamette Valley Oregon town, that sulfur smell was always present, and that water made me puke.
I loved my Grandmother but always balked at going there.
