You guys think running an exhaust like this (no mufflers) would be to loud?

Nope! But a pair of Porter's wouldn't be bad either.

On the pcv set up, I'm not familiar with the flat head, but is there no connection between the breather tube and the valve? They're right next to each other, what's to stop the air from the breather just going right to the pcv?

It's been kind of tough to figure out the routing of the exhaust so the Coupe still has clean frame sides and nothing hanging down under the car that looks bad. The brake master cylinder, rear brake lines, fuel lines, rear wishbone, and the 1939 X member make it tough to run it within the frame. I like the lake pipes look, but it's not what I really wanted. I want the dual exhaust to come out of the back so you can hear that distinctive flathead sound. I ordered some more pipe and some shorty glass packs . I have an idea of how to get what I want, and not have the exhaust look bad doing it. It's going to take a lot of cutting and welding pipe, but I think it will work good.

 

Blues, the PCV connection under the intake manifold is from a pipe that runs up from the crank case. It's separated from the lifter valley where the breather feeds to.

 

In that case, I think you've got a good design, to best ventilate the entire engine. Good job.

 

Alright guys, finally got the exhaust done. It took a lot more time, money, and work to do it the way I wanted it, but it came out just like I envisioned.

 

Great job as usual, Aaron. Looks like you'll be running around the neighborhood soon!

Thanks hfh, I thought about naming this car Two Timer, because it usually takes me two times doing something to get it the way I want it

 

Battery is mounted, cables run, and the hood fitting well now.

Such perseverance!!! I don't think I would have the patience for making that hood fit as well as you did.

Thanks guys, I still need to do a little hammer and dolly on the hood, but its close. Now I can start working on getting the lights set up.

 

Looking good. I need to mount my tank and battery soon. Good idea on the cutoff.

Louis, I saw that on your build. Odyssey makes a small 12 volt battery that is supposed to be good. Being small, it might help with placement options.

 

Think I’m more or less caught up now! Damn that hoods an onery one!

It’ll help me when I mess with my A. It’s all A stuff but from 3 or 4 different cars so it’s taking some effort but nothing like what you just did.

 

Hey quick question while I’m thinking about it. Does the column lock have a notch or anything in the shaft you have to line it up with?

I noticed you playing with how the tube/mast was placed in relation to the steering wheel so I assume that there isn’t anything it has to lock into if you can move the column and have it not effect it?

Maybe you covered this in a video already and I’ve just forgotten :S

 

Yes, there is a slot in the outer tube and a metal sleeve that is attached to the steering shaft. These have to line up with a pin that is used to lock the shaft. When you turn the key, it moves the pin in or out of the sleeve to lock the steering wheel from turning.

 

Ok so when you moved it it wasn’t enough to miss align anything. Thanks for the additional info. Looking at photos and diagrams sometimes leaves some questions

 

Well before I cut anything I scribed a line all the way up the shaft and outer column. I used the scribe line to line everything back up after I shortened it..
