I took it to Crystal glass at south common.
Gary the glass guy there has done lots of hot rod stuff and knows what he’s doing.

The strip ? That remains to be seen, I'm sure I will have my share of fun and thrills with it.
All testing will be on a closed course with a professional driver. ;) :D

:D It is a little on the short side isn't it. That's Ok, it's plenty big enough when you consider removing snow from it :D

    Well shit :D
The windshield is finally on the car now after I broke the first one

    How you might ask?
Well there’s a rubber strip that goes into a groove in the bottom of the windshield frame to seal it to the cowl and it was tight before chroming and even tighter with the plating.

I should probably have had the glass guy put it in the first time but I forgot and in the process of getting it into place I pulled too hard on the frame and cracked the glass.

So,live and learn, back to the shop for windshield #2 and we haven’t even seen the road yet :D
    Lesson learned :D

Before I dive into wiring I had to mount my coil so I found a spot behind the carbs at the back of the engine and used a couple of threaded holes in the block.

Made a little bracket and welded it to the bottom of my coil cover tube.

So it’s mounted nicely tucked away and ready to go

Man.....you're killing me with the details! Am I taking notes? Yes.... yes I am. While my build is not loaded with chrome or fancy paint, I'm paying attention to details and your build is VERY inspiring. Thanks and carry on, man! For instance... the boot you used for the throttle arm through the firewall is neat! After a bad experience with a shredded cable, I switched to similar solution, but without the boot. Your boot is in my notes.;)

Thanks Fred more to come yet.
That boot was listed on eBay as a Studebaker Avanti throttle boot.
I think I should have ordered a spare, not sure if they’re still listed.

    Edit:
I found one Fred if you’re interested.
Pretty cheap too so I ordered a spare.

It's looking great! Seems like only just a few parts missing such as the wheel flares. Nice work!

Wanted to mount a panel to place all of my electrical wiring stuff on the inside of the firewall so I used 4 existing bolts and made an aluminum panel that bolts to them on the firewall on 1/2” thick feet / spacers.

Once I get the wiring stuff figured out I’ll paint it white.

Good thinking! Well hidden and no extra holes in the firewall.
I'll probably copycat you once I get that far.

So the stand offs are 4.5? Doesn’t look that tall in the photos, Curious to see this come together.

  29. I am pretty sure he means 4 feet that are 1/2" each.
