Anybody know of a good, old car friendly radiator shop.My orig 32 v/8 rad. has a slight leak where the tank meets the core.Don't want to re core it and dont want someone trying to sell me a new one.I need a good old school repair shop. Thanks,Bob
Elburn radiator in Elburn Illinois. He can do anything you need. Just had him modify a Model A radiator for a flathead V8. Call Burt 630-365-5800. 1S 1st Street Elburn Illinois. Just don't tell him to take his time. He also does gas tanks.
There is no such thing as a slight leak where the tank meets the core. Sent from my SM-T350 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I can second Elburn Radiator and second the comment about taking his time but he has always done a good job for me.
Not sure what you mean ? The leak is very slight and it's coming from the area where the tank meets the core.I'm not real smart but what am i missing ?
Sadly, this is a dying art. Radiator shops in St. Louis are hard to find. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
You are dealing with about 80 years of corrosion and calcium buildup. To solder any leak will require getting the metal squeaky clean for solder to adhere. You also have a rad that has had numerous heating and cooling cycles that work harden and crack the tanks. What is your car worth? Sent from my SM-T350 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Thanks, i fully understand the complexities of the repair.I'm just saying in terms of coolant loss the the leak is slight. Not sure what my car is worth or the relevance of the question, I'm simply trying to get some recommendations on a good radiator repair shop.Do you know of any ? Thanks,Bob
Sweet! Now I know where there are TWO shops near me!! Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
