Been working on my Mercury since the beginning of the year thought i'd post up some progress pics and specs. Chassis is static dropped no bags, no hydraulics nothing.. dropped spindles, dropped steering arms, cut coil. In the rear i moved the leaf springs in and up in the frame rails. Running Atlas de-arched springs in the rear with 4" blocks. Car sits about 2" off the ground. Running a bored and stroked 324 Olds with 6x2 stromberg setup backed by a Camaro t5 IMG_20170927_181516_235.jpg IMG_20170927_205643_329.jpg IMG_20170927_181516_235.jpg IMG_20170927_205643_329.jpg IMG_20171007_135025_466.jpg IMG_20170927_181516_235.jpg IMG_20170927_205643_329.jpg IMG_20171007_135025_466.jpg

  2. Man that thing is low! I could not make it up my driveway. Very nice work with the two door swap. Why did you cut the top of the door off? is the profile of the four door roof different than a two door roof?

Great work. Quite a project. Can you post pics of the steering box and brake MC setup up with that motor?

Prepping for a chop, maybe? Plus, at a glance it looks like the door top was bent to shit. Probably easier to cut off & fix, than it is to wrestle with it on the car.

    I don't see anything bent.

    :
Look back at the pic with the primered door before the upper frame was cut off. There is visible damage to the upper frame, but appears can be repaired fairly easily.

So i finally got around to start 20181008_183212.jpg 20181008_183218.jpg 20181008_183825.jpg 20181008_183831.jpg 20181008_183839.jpg 20181012_163058.jpg 20181012_163105.jpg 20181013_114413.jpg 20181013_123103.jpg 20181013_160639.jpg skinning my drivers side door. All the inside structure is done... i'm going to try and get the door skin tacked on tomorrow and take my time welding it. Meanwhile i'm still driving the shit outta the merc with half a door. LOL

Man I'm impressed! All the 4 into 2 door conversion talk through the years. Usually leading to the conclusion that its too much work. I can appreciate the amount of work its taken to get it where it is now. Well done!

I'm loving the engine, the '51 quarters and the 2 door conversion, looking forward to seeing how you end up doing the rest of the roof. Kinda shocked it's driveable at that height but it looks like you're using it so that's cool. I like the Olds? front bumper as well.

I'd like to know what you used for a master cylinder, I need to do that to my '51.

Yeah its a olds bumper! Man i drive the shit outta it! The bottom of the frame is plated with 3/8 plate so i can drag it if i have to. I can take a picture of the master cylinder setup and post a picture of it.
