im sold on FSI auto advance . been in for several years with no problems . yes it is expensive , but you get what you pay for .

  2. I'd occasionally drive it on the street, probably once or twice a month.
Essentially I'm building a banger rail for the yearly RPM Nats event, that complies with my college budget.

Save yourself about $100 and find a good B distributor.

Save $250. I’ve got one to sell for $100. I’ll post it in the classifieds.

  5. That would be perfect! So I've done a little reading, Ideally I'd want 19* btdc on an "A" timing cover? I have a 4.2:1 head, 4-1 exhaust, and a jetted down holley 94.

I was just going to say I saw a nice B distributor for sale 100 bucks. It’s yours glen. Saw it on partsswapper on Instagram.

Get the B if you don’t want to spend the money and drive it a lot and far.

He ended up buying my Model B distributor. FYI, I just drove 100 miles on my other Model B distributor and it performed flawlessly.

  16. I've got 2 with stock transmissions one of those has an overdrive and one with a T-5

I'd get something accomplished on my '31 Coupe banger project if I didn't have to make a fixture or tool seemingly every time I turn around. Working on the rearend now and thought it would be handy to have a fixture to hold the housing vertical while doing bearing preload, etc. The fixture turned out nice, but it took quite a bit of time.

Then, since I don't have a 2-jaw puller, I made a puller to get the pinion off of the driveshaft since I'm going open driveline.

Most recent challenge came this afternoon, getting the axle seal in place w-a-y down in the axle housing. Seals usually pop right in when you can get to them, but not these. Several attempts and methods were fruitless but at least I don't think I've ruined the 1st seal .....yet. Plan B or C, whatever I'm up to now, shows promise but I had to quit for the evening.

One of these days, I keep telling myself, I'll actually be able to bolt something to the bare, already painted frame that's just sitting there on jackstands in the middle of my shop, where it's in the way for everything else I'm doing.

Sorry to have gone on a rant of sorts.....

Wow very kool, is this a SOHC head or OHV?

I would love to get my hands on one of these early heads.

Crazydaddyo: Who made the Eubanks head, & do the molds still exist? Are they willing to cast more copies?

Dan EUBANKS made this head, Maybe ten years ago. He is into another stage of life/interest now, I'm told.
Dan made a total of two, I think. One was made operational and I was told , was run at BVille.
Dan sold that one, and the only other one(never completed) went to a guy who lives nearby and is being 'reworked/used' as a basis for something/full OHV crossflow and completely new..
Dan asked me if I 'wanted one', when he was starting this OHV project. It was not a good time for me (read $) and as fate would have it, I did not become involved. Maybe a good thing. I won't/shouldn't miss the next one !
I think that Dan made his version as a copy off an original Cook OHV head. Cook was an old L A. based company.

  27. Just a quick check in....going to be down awhile for some personal body mods....taking a hernia out and adding a hooker...I hope !

  28. Yeah, I too met Dan Eubanks about 15 years ago. The late Jay Steel and I met with Dan a few times with the thought of building a race engine(s) around the Cook reproduction. Dan wanted to do some more redesigning of the head; and too, was trying to devote more time to his machine shop business. I thought Dan to be a really nice guy; but we had to turn out a couple of engines fast. My impression was that Dan had a few blocks cast but none machined. And I believe it was then he thought of doing some "re-designing"!

Hm, interesting. I never heard about him ever casting blocks ! I’ll have to check on that. I know of Dan making rods, cranks and the Eubanks head(s).
I have one of his drilled C cranks in my Russian B engine. It has given good service. A crank specialists checked it over for me, and said it was perfect !
He made his rods out of aluminum. I know of a guy who has an unused set of Dans rods. Don’t think he made very many rods. I think he said he made about twenty C cranks, but memory fades with age. He used to sell at Turlock swap. He’s retired from bangers now, I’m told.
