I recently picked up this 53 chev that was chopped in 1962 and from the looks of it nothing past 1966 has been done. its been on the island its whole life from what i know some features are a swivel pass seat and 1961 impala wheel wells this car has been hidden from the public from what i know since 1976. so here she is for the rest to see .

Boy there are some really bad blind spots on the top.

    Pretty cool!

Yeah, but probably not much worse than some business coupes or sedan deliveries.

The car has some really cool custom elements to it and I like it. I'm typically a preservationist of such survivors but I think if I had this car I would have to un-fill the quarter windows, I just can't get behind that particular mod. But the wild candy cane interior is great and the chop looks OK otherwise, and I like the opened up wheel openings and extended 55 Chevy quarter panels/tail lights.

I know it's got a kooky look but I love survivor customs . I do think it needs some side trim to break up red. And the engine is a 235 6. And as far as blind spots it actually isn't that bad . It's been sitting since 1976 in a museum storage area and pulled out from there in 2005 . I also agree on the 1/4 windows but being built like this then was a odd feature that I will leave alone . The interior is so wild and tacky that it’s awsome !!

I have to agree that opening up the quarter windows will have the chop and the rest of the car flow better.

But it’s awsome just how it sits!

Anything done to the inliner? 235 is a great engine

I totally agree with Squablow and VANDENPLAS. Very eye catching interior. I can appreciate the work in and out. Everything works in the looks department other than no quarter windows. I have seen quite a few on CL and they always seem a bit off. But glad you got it instead of just sitting.

Just noticed they rounded the top rear corner of the doors. Cool details like that make a difference.

I like that it's six powered.
Some tasteful scallops might break up the red, without having to drill for trim.

'56 Buick lenses in the '55 Chevy housings and a few more grille teeth would look great without destroying the look, and should be readily available.

Nice find. I`d cover the top in white vinyl. I`d break up all the red goin on. Scan0598.jpg

  22. Nice car. The interior is fantastic.
Large white wall radials and some 50ies wheel covers will help it alot. Those wheel covers are interesting but they dont fit the car.
New carpet and as has been said some trim or scallops to break up to big red sides. That's all I would change.

I did use some suggestions from here to "break up" the vast expanse of red by adding scallops and some lee lenses ..just to see how it might look. It does help with the quarter window I think:

    T'riffic!
It now looks as good outside as inside, with no body work involved.

That's pretty cool. I'm kinda liking the filled 1/4 windows, and it'd be a fair amount of work to put windows in it, never mind paint matching and trying not to fuck up the upholstery. The above photo-shopped scallops help I think.

Very cool, but if not in mag.doing a few little things will not if done right, do anything but make it even better. I would add portholes an wild paint{Wastson},Buick tail light like Mo said. A few mods to front, maybe scoop or two, luovers ,grill?

  29. Wild interior, extensive body work (at least top, and rear of front fenders), yet the front end seems untouched.
Makes me wonder if extensive front end treatment was in the works, but for reasons unknown didn't happen.
