We have a dinner bell about like that dated 1886 on a post at the corner of my back deck,Its been in my wifes family for years and was passed down to her last summer, I sand blasted multi color layers of paint off it, repainted it and put it on a new treated post, The U shaped perch was broke at some point and welded back giving it some extra character....I like it and all the kids and some adults that come around have to ring the bell;)

Maybe modern? I bought one at a swapmeet a few years ago new that looked a lot like that one, maybe not? You could unscrew the clear cap on mine and change the insert pic.

I'm really not sure when they were offered. I believe I'll be in there this weekend and I'll ask them if anyone knows and report back.

Not sure what the numbers lingo of those that you mentioned are but Ive used my share of old iron workers. Seems like you cant wear the old ones out, I like the old breaks, shears, punches etc. We had one old dinosaur break at a place I use to work that seemed to be half the size of my house with huge turning, wheels clicking, It was almost a little scary when you first pushed the foot bar down for it to engage and do a slight simple break in some sheet metal we worked..............Seeing those old ones does make you ponder a bit and think of the times and all the people that have used them through the years.
