Can you put a 4" or 5" dropped axle in place of the original?

Not without other mods.

 

If you do, you may as well upgrade to hydraulic brakes at the same time.

 

Won't work with mechanical brakes

 

You have to raise the brake actuators. You also have to bend the arms on the spindles.
Raising the brake actuators on the spring perch bolts has been covered here before.

 

Lots of work, you should sell it at a loss just to get rid of it pm me for my phone #

 

Also watch for tire clearance. Any chance you could get enough drop by using a reversed eye spring and slightly smaller tires in the front? Also add your general location to your profile.

Someone might correct me but I don't think you have to split the wishbones. How about some pictures? How about leaving it stock and updating the drivetrain (as I did with my AVATAR)?

Here's the plan.
So many highboys are conversions. Didn't realize such till I searched.
So... remove the front fenders, take the axle/spring out. Split the wishbones, 4 or 5" drop axle, new spring, juice brakes, work out the steering and you are on your way...????

You do not have to split the wishbones and if you don't you will have a better handling car. Trust Henry on this. You need to tell us more. What engine is in it? Is it staying in it or are you upgrading to something newer? What is the drive train?

 

I thought you might be interested in the way I mounted my master cylinder. I use stock pedals and didn't have to drill any holes. Overhang is welded to a plate that was bolted to the K member.

You highlighted conversions. While chasing in HAMB alone on average 60% of highboys, all Henry metal have been created from a full fendered car. Fished this twice with same results. I'ma not say this is bad or wrong, it is what it is.
With this in mind and with today's goodies at everyone's finger tips it's pretty simple and easy to make a really nice highboy or custom full fendered car.
I've scratch built a lot of hot rods back in the day. Now with the horn of plenty of components such allows no excuses for kool cars.
That's where I'm heading with my initial questions asked.

So basically you are gutting a stock 32. Nothing close to the original architecture if you are planning a Chevy automatic behind your Ardun. Doesn't really go at all with your original question.

If you want people to take you seriously on the HAMB, we don't like to be played around with. Lots of HAMBers have great ideas, and even more have real-world experience. But it helps a ton if you give us the parameters in the original post. A wishy-washy concept, continually changing target, and unclear prose for the sake of (your attempt at) literary stardom just wastes our time. Not many guys will stick around to help with that. Especially for a newbie.

 

Cash for an Ardun? Cool, just pick a shop tell them what you want, like you told us above above, and leave your wheelbarrow full of money, they'll call ya when it's ready. Enjoy.

I wonder if you would be better off both cost wise and easy of build to use a steel Brookville roadster body, assuming it is going to be a roadster. Have you seen their roadster bodies.?

Please give us a location, at least a country, so we can get an understanding of some of the things you are saying. You started out saying stock 32 now you are building a high dollar car. If you are going high dollar get a chassis built to do what you are doing. You sound like you want to build a nice car. Your choice of Ardun, 200r4, and A/C sound like you want to build a show winner, trailer queen street rod. Most guys here prefer driver hot rods! So be careful in your next choice of words.
