    Hey Gary,

You found a nice color shot of the Bowers and Paris A/A at Lions at night. In this time era, they allowed the pro photographers grass side access in front of the spectators bleachers. With a few telephoto lenses, one could take as many super clear photographs and be a safe distance away from the high powered action. In this photo, one can see the flash, so the photographer must have crept up closer to the action.

The Bowers and Paris A/A Fiat Coupe was invited to participate in the 2017 opening of the Price Transfer Lions Dragstrip Museum Grand Opening. (now being remodeled and is currently closed) I was able to get to the pre- staging period, a couple of weeks ahead and take some photos in the big empty floor area. Up close, it was fun trying to think of myself inside of this cool A/A coupe firing up and being on the starting line at Lions.

After thinking about how loud the motor would have been if it fired up inside of this huge warehouse cavern, later on during the closing of the actual event day, the Les Ritchey Injected Ford fired up to move to its trailer.

The sound echoed all over the whole museum floor with tons of power. That is what it would have sounded like if the Bowers and Paris Altered Fiat also fired up inside. It was impressive to say the least.

Here are some exerpts from another post:

    Hello,
Inside of the old Bowers and Paris 440 Fiat Altered (now owned by Jerry Rushing) looks rather business like. But, the standout skull shift knobs just put on a final touch to the race car interior working space. JUNE 2017 at the Lions Dragstrip Museum

Did you ever wonder what if would feel like to be inside one of those small Fiat Altereds burning off of the line at Lions ?

1964 The Bowers and Paris 440 Fiat Altered at Lions Dragstrip in Long Beach. Red Paris, driver.

This altered was one of the first cars to roll into the newly constructed Price Transfer, Lions Dragstrip Museum floor on the set up days. That gave an inquisitive guy a chance to thoroughly photograph the race car sitting by itself on the empty display floor

another Joe Mailliard sponsored race car from 1960-65, Long Beach.

In this large museum display floor, it looked a little lonely, but ripe for some close up photos. Ever wonder what the inside looks like of a race car that was on the cover of the August 1964 issue of Popular Hot Rodding?

It was minimalistic, but ready for the all out assault on the race at hand. A machine turned instrument panel, the requisite sponsor stickers, and the popular skull shift knobs. One of the skulls even has detailed “Fontanelles.” Fine details are always appreciated in quality builds.

The 440 Fiat Altered was a fan favorite and the big 671 Hemi motor was very business like. Since the big Hemi was a giant in this little Fiat coupe. It was on the center floor display, inside of the Lions Museum floor space, but it would have been rather cool to hear it outside in the humongous "Cacklefest."

Finally, on the floor on the Lions Dragstrip Museum on the opening night, it shared space with its famous friend, the Marcellus and Borsch Altered Roadster. “Winged Express” Both all ready to race at a moment’s notice.

Add some fuel, hook up the driveline, turn on the ignition, and they are race ready at a moment’s notice.
    Let the action begin…

And to think she probably became someone's mother and grandmother. I'm glad to have been able to see her as she was at that moment. Damn, what a good looking woman!
