So, how many of us actually listen to a local radio station? The kind where you have no control over what the DJ plays, except for phoned in requests.

I do...even the news too...I like to hear what might be hitting the airwaves from the new always evolving talent...but many times it ain't like it used to be.

  6. OK I guess a outside of that like a vintage drag race may not necessarily apply, but I made an
iPod mix for last Saturday’s drag race.
I couldn’t help but drift away from the usual 50s rockabilly stuff. I had to include some early Rolling Stones David Bowie and even some funky Sly & The Family Stone style Muzic to mix it up a little bit.
A close friend passed away and gave me his CD collection with over 500 of the best rock blues and soul music. I’m like a kid in a candy store.

It varies but always classic rock, nothing better than to throw the doors open in the summer and crank up some AC/DC.
That usually puts a stop to working when the song is over for a bit as I usually want to go in the house and que up that youtube video of them playing Thunderstruck live in concert with Angus Young in that funky little schoolboy outfit, what a character.
Funny story, and mind you, I'm 64 years old.
The young neighbor couple are big VW people, our shops are side by side and they're always outside working on something, one day they came over to borrow my engine hoist and I had the radio cranked up when she says you like that song don't you, who is that?
I told her AC/DC and she goes "aren't they kinda old".
All I could say was "well, yeh".

Not much radio in the shop,
no radio towers in the valley.
No satalite radio or computer in the shop either.
I do have a few CDs and a short stack of LPs
Most of what have been listed already
and some '50s-'60s lounge type stuff, Esquivel, Mancini, Martin Denny...
Plus a few "sounds of the drags" type records

Ac/dc is always a good choice. Although I prefer the original singer. Angus has Alzheimer's real bad, sad being the lead guitarist for one of the greatest rock bands and can't remember.

Out of all my music devices the old tube record player in my bedroom puts out the best quality sound. Tubes are amazing at sound quality.

I'm young so when I'm in the mood for rock, its select bands from the 90's and 2000's (Fuel, Stone Temple Pilots, Trapt, My Chemical Romance, to name a few).

Now if I'm working out in the machine shop, trance is my thing (DJ Tiesto, Paul van Dyk, BT, Paul Oakenfold, etc.)

Other than that, about anything from the 30's-50's sets a nice tone. Lately its been a mix of Louis Armstrong, Elvis, Billy Holiday, Bing Crosby, and Johnny Cash. I recently found "electro swing" which can be pretty cool too.

My iPod with all sorts of Blues, Country, Bluegrass, Classic Rock, Soul, Jazz, you name it. It depends on my mood. Lately, ive hust been playing through the alphabet since I have over 10,000 songs on it. Rock (me) radio is much better than any commercial stations. I can't even find one I'd listen to when riding if its not Sirius.

I listen to what I call "Regular Rock" and mostly Classic Rock. No doo-wop, no country, no pop, no rap, no pop-country, etc. I actually listen to an FM radio station that has been on the air for 50 years --> KLOS 95.5 (Southern California).

IHeart especially in the morning for John Boy & Billy (It's a Southern thing :) ) and Pandora for 70s and 80s so I am with you lostone. I wish some of the car show DJs would update their playlists to something newer, are you listening Wings :)

    Oops yes Malcolm!

Jazz is about the only music I really never got into.

My kids used to pick on me because one day I'd listen to hank Williams Sr, next day def leopard, next day Dean Martin, then back to Johnny cash.

My idea of rap, beasty boys, run
    Dmc, sir mix alot.

I did say my taste was all over the place.

No radio anymore. Pandora or the 5500+ songs on my iPod blast thru a bose surround.

50’s early60’s, blues, rockabilly, blasters, reverend Horton heat, social distortion and sometimes a mix of early 90’s

I haven’t gotten to the point where I have the music off because, as they say, music soothes the savage beast.
