Talking to someone that had seen video of 40 Ford being lifted out of a collapsed barn in Summerville, Pa.
Believe owner was a centenarian and looking to sell cars. Sadly he passed early in September. Read obit in Jeffersonian newspaper. Have seen pics of the cars, most were late 30’s and early 40’s Fords. Supposedly a low mileage 60 Chev convert was there also. Video supposed to be of 40 Ford being lifted by 2 straps with a front loader. Like to have an address for the video.

Some of them old barns are just death traps...once a hole gets in the roof or maintenance stops shit happens...the stuff aint gonna be pretty them beams is thick n' heavy...the family lost some equity there.

I'd just about say that that barn caved in with last winter's snow load.

I think this is Pennsylvania which gets weather extremes perhaps worse than Southern Ontario and a about 1 month ago we had 6 Tornadoes and a couple of micro/down bursts touch down and that looks like a Microburst type situation or just high winds...I am surprised the story is not more detailed as to what is in there. Lots of Penna Hambers anybody know what this fella had...may he rest in Peace.

Reminds me of that pile of racers dug up when a house sold awhile ago...

That would be a delicate dissection depending on what's under there...that is the mystery...I am curious...some of these collections are worth millions.

It would make an interesting documentary though...I mean seeing what that other Hamber unearthed was amazing.

  18. Very sad. Similar scenarios seem to play out all too often. At 100 years old I would hope that the gentleman wasn't saving them as an investment for retirement!!!:(

  19. I am sure he was "gonna get to them" every time someone stopped by and asked if they were for sale....

I'm thankful the gentleman wasn't around to see the carnage to his collection.

The 29-30 4 door sedan way up top with blind rear quarters... I would bet money that it is a Studebaker.

I was looking at the types and sizes of wood in that pile. It looks like a poorly repaired structure...I see some serious rot on the biggest timbers, indicating the former roof leaked for a long time. It was obviously reskinned with the green roofing, perhaps as a last ditch effort to save it?

I'm facing the same here.. I'm getting older age, my buildings need work...but I have other things to do with spare time & limited funds available.

    0815180914b.jpg I see a 39 or 40 Ford Coupe...:(

It seems since this is rust belt some have rough lowers but I'd feel many may come out salvageable but it depends on who is calling the shots in how the debris is removed...
