I know So Cal sells them but I think the marker light on top of them look silly because of the high peak they have. Is there another mfg that makes something similar with a softer looking marker light on top? ... Also what options are there for small 50's period style stand alone signal lights?
There are some European 7" halogen headlights that have a second smaller bulb socket built into the reflector. I believe Hella or Cibie has them. KK
These are what I used. https://www.streetrodhq.com/detail/15610/Headlight_Halogen_Lamp_With_Amber_LED_Park_Lights.html
what about those repo '33 commercial assemblies with turn signal internal like Blake27's? https://www.est1946.com/and821734fordcommercialandpassengercarheadlights.aspx
For the electrical gurus, is it possible to rig relays without adding a digital timer to have one headlight turn off while that blinker is on like modern cars?
I’ve often wondered about this also, it would definitely make the signal more visible if it’s possible to do. Curious to see what turns up.
Why not use the high beam as your turn signal. It worked great on my C cab. Of course you will have no turn signals while in high beam mode.
I don't know if this would help but this diagram appeared in street rod mag. I believe back in the 80s how to turn your headlights into turn signals. It looked interesting and am thinking about this set up.
I think Peterbilt used a headlight bucket that had a signal lens built into the top edge of the ring.
Thanks for posting this Blake... Only problem is the site says not available. These are exactly what I would use if I can locate a pair.
This is what I'm using. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/upd-31338 Car is not up and running yet, but I tried the lights and I think they look great. Come in a variety of colors.
I have a pair of repro '33-'34 commercial lights with Bob Drake reflector, halogen bulbs and internal park light/turn signal. PM if interested. Phil
I hope you don't depend on other drivers actually seeing them, especially with the nit wits on the road today!
I was just doing some random googling on this. Never seen anything I cared for or bright enough. Those peterbilt ones I may do some more digging on those but i cant see them outshining a headlight
There are other vendors who might have them on the shelf.PPRather a few posts up says he has some for sale as well.
I have the OTB 682C. I really like them. Park lights and signal lights on the top. OTB makes really nice stuff and they are good to deal with. I also ordered the headlight wiring conduits from them. http://www.otbgear.com/682-C-Headlights-C3.aspx
Thanks for the photos Larry. I see that the OTB's are horn shaped which I don't like much. The Bob Drake 's have a rounder lens which I like more. Did you get yours from SoCal? --- Bob Drake on the left --- --- OTB on the right ---
No problem, I hadn't seen the Bob Drake ones. We actually got mine right from OTB, my wife ordered them for me for Christmas one year. They’re good quality and I’m sure the ones from Drake are as well.
I just mounted up a set of the 682-c repops that Speedway sells. I think they are junk. The screws for the bezels are almost stripped from out of the box and I had to redo the turn signal sockets as the brass spring pins were bent and not making contact. The 4 screws that hold the mounting plate on the bottom of the lights is crap. It is meant to look like a rivet and has no slot or flat. They don't tighten up, as the head just spins with no way to hold it while tightening. Sorry for the rant, and I know I shouldn't have ordered from them. I will use them until I find a good set of originals.
