That is a long way from hammering out quarter panels and a nose piece ! Next time you come to The States come up and put mine together.

  4. Good news, bad news.... Got to drive the car after having to change out the clutch master, camera batteries died so no video, also engine decide to eat something it shouldn't have.

Congratulations and condolences Jimmy! Did the block and head survive? It looks nice all back together. Engines are easy compared to what you've done.

Ouch...that's pretty nasty glad it was contained and you're okay.

  8. How'd that happen?

    Car looks good outside.

  9. Thanks! Both head and block are fine, bores just need to be honed, I have new pistons and rings ordered. This will be easy yes but still a kick to the guts I didn't need at this stage.

That seems normal for me I should have been a hurdler ;):D

I am really pissed off a week later but I am thankful the damage was contained to piston & rings.

Something, don't know what got into the engine, it was small enough to get past the valve and do no damage to it.

It does look good outside, drove good too.

Can not imagine what left no marks in valve to bust piston like that. Must have left marks in head & piston? Have seen swallowed valve damage & SBC cracked pistons just from hard use.

  12. Hey Mike, that is why I am still scratching my head. Whatever it was the remaining pieces are sitting next to the spanner in bottom photo.

  13. Yeah I got to have a few runs down and up the driveway. I need to take it to the engineer and have a final inspection/roadworthy then it is rego time.

That is crazy. I am going blind studying your pictures trying to figure what happened. Keep us updated if you learn more about cause or where/what little pieces are from

Something tells me the next drive is going to be a lot longer...you've bounced back pretty quickly from that setback...that's the best way to put it behind you...Good on you...;)

The re-do of the original is too slick. Yours is real and makes me think of our inspired roadster. I'm thinking the fenders are something required to get it OKed for the road there. They will however make driving in wet conditions far more enjoyable. If they must stay you did a great job of rolling them into the rest of the lines. If S&G had needed fenders that is what they would have looked like.

Great news! This has been very informative to follow. Now post pictures of the adventures you have in this car. Are there still plans for the real clone with the old engine?
