So I have a chance to buy a body finally for the project. Not ideal but I do like it. What would you guys pay for this shell, as it sits. First time building one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
My $.02. Don't know your age, abilities, enthusiasm or bank account, but this is going to tax all of them, even if this wasn't your first. Try and get something that's a bit more together and a few less holes. By the time you're done patching and refurbishing the body, subrails and frame, you might consider a Brookville or something more substantial. Don't ask how I know.
yea it is, but i have been having a hell of a time finding anything here in wisconsin that isnt next to being dirt ya know? i enjoy fabricating steel and what not. but its a project right? RB35, i was on brooks this am, they got some decent stuff for not bad prices, i pretty much have all drivetran at my house all i gotta do is weld up frame, and scratch my head about the body
its the most complete one ive found in wisconsin so far, and i cant imagine they would ask for over 800...
ya same here stang, most i see that are in the realm of "quality" is around 3-5 grand. and im kind of wanting to try the challenge of doing the work cause i enjoy that thing but like @RB35 said, it will challenge the abilities thats for sure
you guys wanna come over? ill supply the beers. if your feeling generous bring some sheet metal and an English wheel please LOL
It looks like most of the subframe is there but what appears to be a rust crack on the A pillar spooks me. That is going to be near impossible to fix without replacing that side of the cowl. That would be a bid deduct on the price if I was looking at it.
If you are talented in bodywork- go for it. Otherwise look for a better shaped car and call that yard art. My worthless opinion.
I don/t think that that is a crack. It looks like where the visor and side roof panel come together and get tied to the front wood header.
If you're feeling ambitious you can buy it and hone your skills. Anything you do to it would help save it and then you could always resell it when you're done with it. Buy a Brookville and get that one going while you save this ol gal.
Like I said. A LOT of work. So much better projects out there. I have yard art in better shape than that.
My yard art 4 door sedan looks like a cream puff compared to that coupe, I wouldn't pay more than 100 bucks, and that's being generous. Let me be blunt and be honest with yourself, if you don't have the talent & the tools to do the job save your money and keep looking for something better, I'm no pro & I have built some rough cars but what your looking at is going to take a lot of time and a lot of money, especially if you have to hire some help with the metal work. HRP
id do all my own steel fabrication. i wouldnt hire any of it out. if anything it would be a good way to hone my skills in fabrication.
