Been busy on everything but my art so I decided to act nostalgic and repost some older work.

This is a stalled project’s first draft sketch

Winternationals 1965

Hello,

The Tom McMullen roadster was the “classic” hot rod back in those early days. A black roadster with bright flames was the epitome of hot rods to the general public. This roadster was the one that stood out in the magazines and shows. That version was the one everyone was familiar with, in the magazines. But, the version I liked was the “Wild Rose” Gennuso (McMullen) driven version that won the Winternationals. (the odd shaped rollbar, Moon Tank, American Mag 5 spokes wheels and all.)

The red/orange flames on the street driven version looked a little better with the narrow white outlining.(from an art prospective) But, it was the same car with the safety roll bar added in per class rules. From the stands, the flames stood out no matter what. Liberties were taken with the Winternationals drawing to make it close, but not overbearing.

It was sad to see the roadster for sale in the HRM for $5k. In today’s dollar, it comes out to $32k. Back then, it was well priced for a top notch, iconic, 1932, go fast, street roadster. (Since a new Chevy El Camino was priced at $2800.)

$5000 in 1970 with inflation, is $32k today.

here's a few new scratches from me...while I was sketching the 31 A pickup, a guy calls me and wants to know if I wanted to buy a 31 A p.u....I did.

It's Friday already??? More oldies.

 

I, for one, dig all three sketches. I'm of the mind that since this is the weekly art show most anything car related should fly as long as it's presented in an artful way. Hey, I'm a gearhead so the'stang is kool with me.

 

There is such great talent here. Once again FAS does not disappoint!

 

I'm hoping Dago 88 doesn't take exception to this. I mentioned above that most anything car
related should be able to appear here and this great piece of artwork is certainly car related,
I just wanted to see it presented in a good way, so I simply tweaked the mat and managed to
remove a slight haze to the photo. I'll gladly delete this if asked. I'm not passing this off as
mine. As Dago 88 stated, this is the work of the talented Evan Danes.

 

Close they are 46 Chevy pickup, straightened & lengthened .
