A few weeks ago, I bought a sad looking 31 Vicky body at the Springfield swap meet that nobody else seemed to be interested in. I hate to see the more desirable body style Fords go to waste so I thought I would bring it home and my 85 year old father and I can see if we can save it. I have an original 32 frame that I will fit it to and I plan to add a 32 firewall, outer header panel, cowl vent, dash and gas tank. So far, we have cut the doors loose that were welded shut, added some door posts, added bottoms to both doors, modified a regular cowl to fit the slant cowl doors, and made hinges out of old sedan hinge pieces and located them in the Vicky locations. We added a subfloor structure from a sedan and lengthened it to match the Vicky doors that are about five inches longer than a sedan. I've got lots of other model A bodies waiting for attention but I thought this one would be a fun challenge.
We saw that poor body and remarked how low priced it was. I'm glad it's being saved. Looked like you guys have the talent and drive to do it. Just one question, why turn it into a 32? How about leaving some 31-ness? I can understand the frame, and maybe the gas tank, but I do like the unusual header on a 31 Vicky. Please reconsider. (I'll still be glad it's getting rebuilt even if you use a 32 header)

I like them because they are so different. You guys sure have got a lot done in the last few weeks. How come we didn't see your roadsters at the HAMB Drags this year?

Looks like a nice save is underway. This is a '29 Fordor visor on a '31 Slant Window windshield along with a '29 Fordor cowl. I've got to get back on this project. Bob

Today we’re fitting the 32 firewall before pulling it out and patching it up. It’s easier to patch holes in the firewall while laying it’s laying on the workbench. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
We’ve now fitted a 32 windshield frame and header panel and used some 31 Tudor panels over the doors. We spliced in some 32 reproduction drip rails too. We are almost ready to weld in a smooth filled top. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
We chopped the body 2 1/2 inches. Soon we’ll fit the 32 gas tank underneath and send it off to be sand blasted. As usual, we plan to avoid using any wood in the car at all if possible. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app

As it sits now, not many will realise that it is a Model A. Header, cowl vent, firewall and chassis are what will convince most that it is a deuce. Fantastic work, thanks for sharing ! .
