The scenery down here is beautiful. These mountains might be a little harder to keep them rides cool though. And definitely harder on brakes coming down.

  2. We have to cross the mountains twice. Once to Bristol and then back to hotlanta. I agree the scenery is great. I just hope it's cooled off a little in september.

Just how big are these mountains? for comparison, I live at 4500 ft and drop to 3000 ft to race in Tucson, and about 1200 to race in Phoenix....

  5. Its not how high but how many. As you travel in that area the road goes up and down with a lot of turning. Its crazy. You can almost get worn out. It will be interesting to see what route we take on the smaller roads. It could get interesting. If there's car trouble don't knock on anyone's door after the sun goes down. Que the banjo music. Taking us on the dragons tail would be alot of fun. Look that road up. I really enjoy that area of our country. Great food; scenery and people. I can't wait to go back there.

  7. A complete brake inspection should be done prior to leaving home.

  10. I won't leave until 3pm Thursday. Lots of work to do still. A year just isn't enough time to prepare.

I'm only 1/2 hour from Atlanta Dragway but Sunday is the only shot I have of getting to the track. Is there much testing going on then or do most just wait for Monday to get after it?

  14. After a car passes tech they can choose to make runs. Alot of cars do make passes. If you are that close stop out. There is alot to see.

  21. 20180908_155526.jpg The hamb guys hanging out. We have a good bench racing session going on. We are checking out the new builds. Joel got his down to 10.15 at 135 mph.

  22. Tricky Steve and cheryl showed up last evening. They drove the model a truck in from stlouis. So our group of four is all here. I saw Joel passed inspection. Everyone else must still be in the tech line.

I imagine that canopy is some of the best (smart) money you ever spent Brian.

  25. The big awning just came in handy. The sky just let loose with some brief but heavy rain. Both cars and the trailer are dry. Too bad I can't take it with us.
