Hot Rods Is it just me?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by HOTRODPRIMER, Aug 31, 2018.

  1. On August the 1st I bought the 1950 Ford club coupe and I swear when I lay down at night if I'm not dreaming about working on the car or I lay in the bed and stare at the ceiling thinking about what to do next, which wire I need to run, fixing the minor things that in my mind seem to grow out of proportion.

Do projects consume you they way the do me? HRP

Yep, I haven't even gotten my next project (getting it tomorrow, '68 International) and I'm already thinking about what to do first, where I'm going to come up with parts, etc.... That's part of the fun!!

I have a pad and pencil on the night stand, just in case. I've solved a lot of problems in my sleep. The brain is a marvelous machine and never stops working, well, ALMOST never......

Why are you staring at the selling?
I thought being excited about a project is what keeps us young...

Danny, its not just you. I do some of my best thinking laying down at night. Lots of times I'd like to go down to my garage and start working but would rather not listen to my wife bitchin about going back to bed.

  12. Lack of sleep led to my spelling faux pas such as using the word selling for what I was referring too staring at which is obviously the ceiling.

A couple of years ago (before I ever bought a hot rod project) I had a dream about a crazy hot rod model A coupe. After I bought my hot rod project I've been having crazy dreams about poking around in the woods and finding a bunch of cool old parts.

  15. Of course you dream, daydream and constantly think about your passion.

  16. Yes.
I get into my projects, basically I'm either working on it, planning my next steps, searching for parts, or taking a break reading the HAMB.
If I didn't have this passion for these cars, it would have to be something else, I wouldn't have it any other way.
Cars are my drug, and I'm addicted, not looking for a 12 step program either..I don't want to stop.

  21. I may lay there thinking about how to solve a particular problem, and more often than not, come up with a solution. On the other hand, if I'm dreaming, my car won't start or has no power...

I would say tell the better half what you are thinking and she might really give you something else to think about. But seeing she is a hot rodder herself she is probably thinking what can Danny do to my wagon.

Actually I am pretty jealous of you Danny. I think you won the lottery. She is pretty, is a hot rodder with a hot rod and wears cool V8 shirts. You don't see too many that are into all the way.

Sometimes when I'm in the middle of a big step or hurdle I have a hard to focusing at work, I sketch what I am working on incessantly, even have trouble falling to sleep because I can't stop thinking about it.... Typing all that out it really does make it sound like a sickness/addiction.
