We just finished this one. Normally do a build thread on each one but we've been neutered for too many improvements incorporated into the builds.
I posted my avatar ‘55 big window back on page 5 in 2012. Since then I tore her down to the frame and now she’s no longer HAMB friendly with IFS, flipped a Ford 8.8 rearend on top of the leaf springs and installed a (HERETIC!!) 2011 LQ4 with mild cam, 4l85e and 17” wheels. I’d prefer the TT’s but can’t use them because my old knock off 15” Torq Thrusts won’t fit over Corvette calipers in front. Anyway, she’s THIS close to being done. I got a cheap deal on the Boyds Smoothies but will be installing body color steelies with ‘55 caps in the future to bring her back to HAMB-appearing, even though the mechanicals won’t be.
Aerocolor - You have a ‘55 hood on that truck but the side emblems are in the ‘56 location - above the body line. ‘55 side emblems have a white background, are one piece and came from the facotry mounted below the body line. ‘56 emblems are two piece with black background and were above the line. Don’t know if youre aware of that. It’s a great looking truck though
Yeah, we're aware of the difference. Owners choice...actually we used what he had. Thanks for the compliment!
Just built this 59 gmc at my work. 305 sbc, truck 4spd, new weatherstripping, glass, wiring harness, tires, brakes, gas tank and lines, steering wheel, seat, exhaust, etc.
This is a shot of the '58 big window I bought recently. Totally cancer free. This is my daily driver. At camp Bakersfield for CHRR. That is my buddy Butch's Willys behind it. This is my '57 I sold last year. Owned it for 15 years, guess I can't be in the witness protection program anymore.
My dads truck he drove daily for the last 4 years. he put over 40k miles on and smiled every minute of the way. Sadly we lost dad back in january so now i will be driving it and remembering all the good times with Pop
Good catch but not what I was referring to, it's a GMC grill with Chevy parking light ends grafted onto it.
I’ve had this truck for 30 years. I was 15 years old when I started working on it. There is a black and white picture of it on page 3 with some borrowed wide whites off of one of my dad’s cars. A couple of weeks ago, I finally got some whitewalls mounted on my wheels.
