So did Norm's T go to a guy named Ross, or to a Larry Klairmont?

It's been awhile since it sold and I have not heard anything new about it. Have any of you? The Kookie Kar is under restoration. What about the Golden Sahara?

There is a website for Klairmont. As far as I know the car is on display in the museum. They also have an email list.

  8. It is on display at the Klairmont museum in down town Chicago. I need to get down there and have a look in person. I saw a video by Voodo Larry they got it started and got all the duct tape off the sides.

    Awesome!

  11. I didn't see it in the on line photo's either, but when I started following them on Facebook they replied to my comment that it was on display. Apparently it is not as big a deal for them as it is for us.

  15. Not even 5 months since Speakeasy Customs got the car to do a full restoration? Will be interested to see what people say about it when they see it.

  21. It is my understanding the Custom box Truck is still in Michigan in pretty bad shape.
I looked at the Kookie Car trailer last Sunday

Yes you remind me...he owned that too...the Truck probably didn't get the Sahara storage treatment...so Did Street live in Michigan?...for some reason I thought Southern States Like Cali...

Man if it's Michigan we're really lucky they were stored inside...;)

Has anyone checked out Voodoo Larry’s recreation of Golden Sahara? It’s pretty spectacular and so is his work. He has skills that many can only dream of.

I sure would like to know what it cost to restore the GS.
AND if they got all of the special electronic features repaired/working.

It is very well known here and a fair bit of coverage exists with most threads actually covering it either decimated by picture issues or negatively opinionated and vocal membership who have issues with Radical Customs...sad but a reality.

It is pretty cool to see this mans involvement with this project as it is very obvious where his heart is in regards to the original. (Note...This was verified not to be a reality as circumstances changed...see post below)

I am happy to see these recent threads remaining somewhat passive and respecting towards the ability for an individual to dream big and execute those dreams...and enjoy Customs as part of the Big Picture alongside all the other automotive movements celebrated here.

  27. Larry was not really involved with this project. There is a bit of a controversy around it as he claims he was told he was getting the restoration, he was working on the skirts (and there is some independent corroboration that he was asked to do it) and then it ended up going to another shop. Sounds possibly like he wasn't willing to commit to such a short restoration period.
