Well it’s not all the way fixed but it’s fixed as well as it’s going to be for now.

No way I’m keeping this car off the road any longer than I sadly have already. I’ll go back and hammer on it some more some fall/winter but for now I’m letting it dry and I’ll cut/buff the touch up paint to blend it in.

Fixed it primarily shoving my arm threw the headlight hole and hammering the back side with a dolly and using my hand as a dolly on the outside 8E6C39B4-0B9C-4165-942E-3D10F40A8D76.jpeg

Yeah I can see it because I know where it is but every body at the cruise last night seemed impressed with my hammer fist skills lol

Close enough for rock and roll I guess ;)

New head light ring on. E934C7E1-D72E-4DD0-988D-09C8108DD786.jpeg Kinda funny, I said I wouldn’t drive it until the headlights pointed forward on the chance it was dark when I came home.

Well it was around dusk when I got home and realized that the passenger side headlight is out lol. But it points forward!

Was looking back at the hamb drags pic’s and thought I’d add that I moved things around to try and get more wrap around the waterpumo pulley as even though it’s only running water it seems to be running cooler so far.

I’ve only got like 20 miles on the car since sept when I broke all the things. But so far so good :)

2032 pounds of pavers, 10 bags of sand, 2 pales of sand and 1000 pounds of old pavers between me and getting the car ready for the hamb drags. 0AA0971D-A591-4129-B088-E70F9E94861B.jpeg

Found a place to stay off Route 66 and it looks like the plan is gathering up every one in the 46 and headed south!

Since baby girl has yet to learn the art of packing light part of my to do list is coming up with better trunk storage as the big tub I shove everything in just kills a great storage space.

Also gonna have to get the back seat padded and further along in the upholstery.

Pretty excited :) gonna try to have the chrome wheels on and the car pinstriped in time for the trip.

But first I need one more long day of me vs the pavers.

    Excited :)

We usually utalize the space between the front of the rear seat and the back of the front since the kids feet can't reach there floor anyway.

Good guys we had tools and chairs in the trunk. Coolers diaper bag in-between the seats. 3 kids in carseats in the back seat and me and the wife in the front with my wife holding our giant stroller in the front seat. An actual road trip with luggage would be different I suppose but there's still a ton of room in these.

Pack n play toys and chairs between seats. Suitcases in the trunk? Or find a bumper hitch and tow a motorcycle trailer behind?

My buddy actually scratch builds super nice custom fit roof racks but it’s not in the budget right now.

I’m trying to get my tools and car fluids to tuck in next to the spare tire so in theory if I ever upholster the trunk I could put a false wall there. It’s just about enough room for a milk crate so I think if I take my flat tool box out and strap it to the tire the rest will fit next to it.

Guess we’ll find out next weekend. These pavers are brutal lol. 36 pounds each and I’ve got to move them 50 yards up hill before I can lay them lol

Haven’t got very far but I’ve got a month left and a plan lol.

Should have the car greased and checked over this weekend, phone charger ordered and the rest scheduled to happen.

Got a good start on the back seat, should have that taken care of pretty easy. Thinking my list of to dos and some good miles before the event and I’ll feel comfortable driving down. I haven’t driven this thing even close to as much as I typically would have in summers/years prior. My spring ritual of greasing and cleaning getting thrown off just messed the whole summer up so far :S

Think the back seat frames are asemitrical! I cut the foam and flopped it down on the seat and it didn’t match.

Scratched my head and cut the seat back foam with a broader boarder and it was off too!

Flopped it over and they both fit perfect. Go figure. Neither Appear bent? Anybody else ever notice that in your fat ford?

Anyhow still trying to get my list done before the drags. Here’s a tease of what’s going on right now 40E10DC9-AC2B-428F-84EE-085F1DE1641E.jpeg ED10E966-8818-4D1C-9849-81EC925E1668.jpeg 56A394FC-B60C-4FF9-A7FB-C1B480FE5D28.jpeg little wider than stock in back ;)

Well since @Rocky posted his tinfoil speed secrect I figured I’d share this one. Turns out with out your carpet blocking most the throttle travel because it’s distorted the car is way quicker lol 6E862586-5D8C-45C4-969A-EFB0FD4FBFF7.jpeg

Don’t know if we are going to take the 46’ to the drags but we will be there either way.

And I’m still jamming on the car trying to meet the hamb drags deadline. I work better with a deadline even if it’s random.

So amongst other things I’ve been re organizing the trunk. I’ve always kept everything in a big rubber made tub in the trunk, tools fluids and the like.

But it just kills the gain trunk space and little kids seem to need a ton of luggage so I set about trunk Tetris

    024EC38D-C904-4380-A160-19B989571A76.jpeg

I think this will be he final set up if I can manage to lift the bucket over the battery when it’s full.

It’s a poly paver sand bucket, a plastic milk crate was just a little to big to tuck up in there. Strapped my flat tool box to the spare tire, stuck my bag with jumper cables and reflector behind the tire and the rest should fit in the bucket DC94E13C-5DDF-48FF-AE55-2084A1E66E5D.jpeg need to move it around a little more and put fresh oil and trans fluid bottles in place of the empty ones but it fit well. Just the jack and jack stand to find a spot for now
C76B514C-4022-435A-897F-37FC11C7687B.jpeg Plenty of room back there.

Eventually when this gets some sort of upholstery I’d like to hide this all behind a panel so that’s why fitting stuff next to the spare tire was ideal.

Anyhow that’s about it for now.

Getting the new rubber mounted on those fancy new wheels tomorrow, then I might do something crazy and wash it for the first time this year lol.

Been spot washing it for what ever it is I’m doing but overall it’s pretty filthy.
    Like barn find filthy lol.

I’d put it off to wash right before the drags so it would actually still be clean for it. Did that last year and managed to find a rain burst to drive threw on my way to the track haha.

1ABFEEC9-70FE-4ECA-AED3-919386374234.jpeg Got my tires mounted! Waiting until I can wash ten layers of filth off the car before I put them on. Don’t want to wash them twice lol FFACAC40-E54D-46C2-B981-3B745F7AB568.jpeg dark spot on the right side of the top wheel is actually the clean spot I wiped dust off of. These things are shiny!

Lugs exposed. Waiting to see if the back seat gets done in time.

No back seat= no where for the car seat. Can’t leave the little hot rodder at home ;)

Some “detail” shots until I can take a decent glamour shot

Haha you can see how dirty the car was when he painted it. We washed just the areas he would be working on.

Few throw back photos. That original paint lasted about a summer before it really started baking off the roof and hood when I started driving it.

I just waxed it until I could paint it. Made the roof and hood look white tinted haha.

Finally got a little highwayntime in the new tires. I can’t believe how much softer the ride is and how much quieter it is in the car even at low speeds.

Those old tires I had been running must be totally wore out! BBABDF18-1EA2-4F18-AAA9-371160A6C145.jpeg Anyhow, figuring out my next few moves to continue my “done by spring” deadline for another year lol
