Body is now on cart THANKS to all my friends at the coffee shop. Started to make patterns for top insert.

 

Just got home from Speedy Metals with some 3003- H14 Aluminum . Just a little trimming is all that is needed right ?

 

Had some more fun today. Nice to see it come together.

 

This is really time consuming .

At it again today made a bow to go between two original bows to join the front sheet to the back sheet YA GOT THAT? It will become clear later I hope.

 

That could be referred to as a splice stringer or splice joint.

 

Wow. Very surgical. With the rivits, and your avatar, will there be more aviation style through out the build? Your painting with a brush put my spraying with a gun to shame. Keep it up. Oh, and I tried very hard to spot some dirt, or debris on your floor. I could not see any. Wow!

Today I started on the rear portion of the top. I can lie and tell you it is easy but you know it isn't.

 

Better look at rear.

 

@chop job are you bucking those yourself or do you have a backup? This is what I call an appearance item one slip of the bar or a hit without a bar and the work is damaged. you are doing a fine job. If you doing this all on your own your quite the acrobat. Budda Boom Budda Bing...

 

Those are not rivets they are blind nuts.

 

I've heard of riv-nuts but those are not that...is that a 2 piece Fastener or is that 2 separate fasteners in two diameters. So I'm still curious is that a solid rivet and a collar presses on the other side? I know that is Scotchbrite pad the fasteners are on...

 

Two piece fastener one screws into the other.

Heard you loud and clear.... The top...in fact it's all tying together nicely. Pretty cool fastener. Looks the Rivet part without all the banging. All you have to get right is the pitch and holes and that takes some calculating for sure...enjoying your build @chop job

 

Took a break from working on the top and started assembly on the frame.

 

When I first looked at that picture I thought, "what is he doing welding the back axle to the frame solid for?" Is he trying to kill his back and build a "hard tail rod?" Then after the third look I see it is just the rear cross bar. We will call that an "optical illusion" for you younger folk who would even attempt to call me old!

 

You are right it does look that way never saw it till you mentioned it.

 

It's taken me over a month now working on this simple roof but I only have one more piece to go.

 

Looking great @chop job your Avatar would make a fitting shifter knob...

 

Had some fun today my brother and I put in the motor.

 

Looking clean and businesslike @chop job......just like your shop......and family comradery...priceless.

 

Having medical issues so thing are slow around the shop THANKS for my brother and very good friend for coming over and doing some assembly makes me happy. Thank GOD for good friends.

 

Sorry to hear about the medical issues. I agree though - family and friends really coming through when you need them is a great blessing.

 

Wishing you a return to full steam ahead soon @chop job...getting #1 back in order is priority...and your owe a few people a nice ride in the Hotrod once she's done...
