My brother took this photo a couple of years ago, Washington state. Doesn't really fit Sitting and Rotting so I thought I would post it here.

I don't follow this as closely as other threads but reposts of something that's as cool as this shot is a non issue for me Gary.

Sometimes digital cameras and the setting sun play tricks that one normally cannot re-create. In this shot, the drag racers had just lined up for the 2ND “Cacklefest” in the parking lot of the Price Transfer Automobilia Collection at the grand opening of the Lions Dragstrip Museum. Upon arrival, I had spent the first several minutes wandering around the completed indoor, Lions Dragstrip section and watched my movies being played on the big wall monitor.

By the time I got to the back parking lot in the late afternoon, the sun was already playing tricks with its own special effects. Where is the complete blue sky? At the time, it looked like a cool PHOTO of contrasts. A glow in the sky, with a myriad of spots added contrast to the digital photo from my camera.

The early hot rods lined up against the early drag racers… It was another version of the famous, “Westside Story.” (Westside, Long Beach that is… where Lions Dragstrip adjoins the city borders.)

The final fire up for the day/night was outstanding as the countdown began. The early hot rodders were braced for any kind of action… The peace was interrupted by a Cacklefest of enormous sound and fumes. It was music to my ears, a tingling in my nose, and watering in my eyes… HOT STUFF. The full Moon Aluminum Fuel Tanks were drained after a long rattling and some cool sounds.

Instant nostalgia, for sure... The good old days brought back to life, inside the museum and the "cackle" outside...
