Problem here is The Beach Boys sing "Little Duece Coupe" with 3 roadsters on stage and the infidels now think they know what a coupe is....

And the car was on the album! I guess they could not get it for the stage performance.

Ronnie Duman with car owner/photographer Ed Hitze at DuQuoin. I would guess around 1964. Back when there weren't all that many racing books around Hitze wrote an early 1970s book about Frank Kurtis that is pretty hard to find nowadays.

  8. Well known photo entitled, " Geronimo’s Cadillac", was taken June 5, 1905

    upload_2018-8-14_11-17-9.jpeg

It's part fact & part fiction, it is indeed Geronimo wearing the top hot but the automobile is a 1904 Locomobile Model C.

But the song of the same name wouldn't have the same flair if it were Geronimo's Locomobile Model C. :D HRP

Main street in Carmel By The Sea, CA. A quirky town if there ever was one...

The S.S. Catalina off-loading passengers at Avalon Harbor, Catalina Island. In the summer, the ship was packed all the time. It left San Pedro at about 9:00 AM for Avalon, and left Avalon for the return trip back to San Pedro around 4:00 PM. The trip was about 23 miles in each direction, took almost 2-hours each way... c6c559882617dcb9abd48dae79ed015e.jpg
Myrtle Ave., Downtown Monrovia, CA. Today it's called "Old Town", and not too much has changed. The street runs right up to Foothill Blvd, at the foot of the San Gabriel Mountains. I wasn't born in Monrovia (born and raised in Hollywood actually) but I live in Monrovia now, on Foothill Blvd.

That's not a photo from V-J Day.... it's the prototype Ford GP in 1941, undergoing field trials prior to undergoing production as the Jeep MB & GPW...you can tell by the grille (made of steel bars), and the front fender shape.

I just can't imagine the gear ratio in this "hauler" to move these cars and trailer! "break neck speed" it surely wasn't!
