Well considering it seemed like everyone use to brag that their street rod had a Corvette engine in it ,I figure there must be a ton of Corvettes out there running Flatheads! lol That must make my 77 pretty rare , it still has it's 350 in it! Larry

That's like getting a Ferrari kit car that's built in a VW drivetrain

So looking at Norb and Scotts timeslip, and taking into account all you guys are running pretty close together . I just need to build a car that runs 10.70s and I win! Sounds simple enough, do not know what the fuss is all about?:rolleyes::rolleyes: lol Larry

I think when Scott gets done tuning and finding the weak links, his Mustang it will be very low 10s, that seems the place to be to run with the big dogs.

My old New Zeland pro topline cast iron 223400020 heads are at there limit, just told the Sugar mama I ordered some new aluminum heads from Competition Products with some fluffing. ;)

Well Norb , I am just an old dog that is tired of sitting on the porch. To close to retirement to get carried away . But I still like banging gears. The 55 with the big block and the right gears maybe good for mid 11's and that still fast enough to have fun and still be able to hang out with you guys in the pits after the races.:) And that's really what I want, to participate instead of just spectating. And cheering you Big Dogs on! lol Larry

That"s where I am Larry, Retired 64 years old and these new heads won't get my small block low 10s, but Scott might miss a gear. ;)

Norb, with some heads with big 230+cc intake ports and 2.10” intake valves,I bet you pick up close to an honest 90-100hp out of that killer combo of yours.
I’m swimming with sharks out there,Larry.lol

Those “old used parts” are stuff Nicholson and Profitt would have killed for back in 63.

Nice Scott! I can see I may have to stop building my kids cars and up the performance on the model A. I used to think it was pretty fast. All you guys are passing me up

So as most of you probably know,we had some major issues with our shifter jamming up on the 2-3 shift at the Meltdown.
The problem turned out to be a really mushy, worn out rubber mount on the passenger’s side of the motor, and one that was nearly as bad on the transmission.
I had welded the drivers side mount solid years ago after it broke and separated,so it’s ok.
The problem was,the two worn out rubber mounts were letting the motor twist and shift in the car so much, that it was jamming the shift linkage into the transmission tunnel, and not allowing the shifter to go into 3rd gear.
If the mounts don’t completely cure the problem,we’re gonna swap the shifter out for this one:

While we’re at it,that mechanical fan might get swapped out for a FoMoCo electric fan I scored from a buddy recently.
