Cars parked by the depot in Creston, Iowa. Yes there are cars there, they are just hiding a little!

Creston, Iowa depot without snow. I know this picture was at least taken in 1959 or later because of the Ford in the picture.

Laying clay tile in Southwest Iowa 1959. I have done the job of the guy placing the tile on the rack when I was a younger man. I think most of the tile nowadays is plastic.

Is that a Model T parked on down the way or is it just my imagination?

That field to the West of the Creston Depot has been a parking lot for as long as I can remember.

Cars and people crossing the tracks, Creston Iowa was a big railroad town back in the day. The remains of the roundhouse are still there.

Looks like this might have been the 1960's, that field is a parking lot in this picture.

Wow! I learned something new while looking at old photos of Creston, Iowa this morning. Creston had a race track and later on that same site a drive in movie theater. This picture taken in 1960 shows not only the drive in but also the outline of the race track can still be seen! The high school is now located there. The drive in must have closed before I started driving.

The race track at The Iowa State Fair. I've watched may races and other events there. I was even an usher at the grandstand for 3 years when I was in high school. It saddens me because the dummies running the fair took the racetrack out a couple of years ago. Some people I know are so mad that they reuse to go to the fair now. I'll be competing in the cookout contest this year, my 5th year in a row I've done that. I've won prizes 3 out of the 4 years I've competed. I guess that means I can say that I know how to cook even if I never win again. It is a lot of fun to beat those professionals I compete against with my old junk equipment! I'm just a stupid old truck driver that likes to cook good food but I like to eat it even better. :)

Cool car and with a 1 on the 1st number of the plate it must have been from Adair County Iowa. Looks like some kind of driving contest.

This Chevy has 77 as the first digits on the plate so it's from Polk County. Same county where Des Moines is located.

I thought that looked like the football field in Stuart, Iowa and that old football field was located in Adair County.

    Could this be Okoboji?

Found later and added. It could be Arnold's Park. I've drove by it many times but never had the pleasure of visiting.

Dexfield Park shootout with the Barrow Gang, AKA Bonnie and Clyde, took place 85 years ago.

Blanch Barrow being restrained. Her husband Buck is on the ground at right.
