@phartman You may want to check with any Fire Crews present on site, to see if there is a local who can provide service

I think all the cars that Qualified today, get to make record runs first on Sunday

  4. Fire system has been repaired/replaced - we will try again tomorrow. It indeed was a faulty fire extinguisher .....

  6. Dang, I’m so “wound up” after the suspense today I’ll never get to sleep tonight. You guys need to go ahead and get the record...don’t know how much more I can take.:)

Murphys Law lives for new vehicles at Bonneville. I still remember my first time in 1975. The best is yet to come. Good luck

I thought I heard maybe two rookies qualified.
I did hear them say that if when you qualify, you have to back it up in the same lane and in the same mile of the course you qualified.

  9. When things are supposed to happen, they do. The guy that fixed our fire system gave us advice that saved us money, discounted what he sold us, redesigned the system to be much simpler and then installed it. He was the only possible person who could fix it for us was there - no fire system and we are finished - instead, we will make our rookie pass tomorrow and continue our quest for the record. Fingers crossed ....

  10. We forgot about our slogan on the dashboard - what could possibly go wrong? And Tom, you can't sleep? Try being in 100 degree heat all day, working your butt off, only to have a stupid fire bottle screw up! Believe me, we feel your pain!

I once had a 10 pound bottle go off because the sun was coming through the windshield and heating it up. After that I put a white towel over the bottle

I get that because of similar experiences from past (drag racing though). I feel for you guys knowing what you’re going through. Primarily why I mentioned Dave wearing fire suit in that heat. Had suits professional clean in old days, they could get dirt, grease, clutch dust, etc. out but could never get sweat stains out!
(I did a lot of sweating in those miserable suits)

  17. Seems to me that there are too many chiefs on the Bonneville staff. Way too many hoops to jump through. Or you dudes just have way more patience than me.

  25. Whew, sounds like a minor hiccup. You guys have this covered.

I'm missing a prime day to go for a roadster ride in order to sit by the computer. I just keep hitting "refresh" and every so often up pops a progress report. Keep us posted.

Patience Danielson... First run... his knees were probably shaking like crazy. Next run he will be a little calmed, the first one is out of the way!
