Seems so very strange to see post '48 vehicles at the "Street Rod Nationals".

  11. What is the car count at the Nationals these days?

  12. Yep, some fine looking rods there along with quite a few that should have been left home. I'm surprised at the number of otherwise great looking cars that have Fugly wheels.

  15. That's a bunch-o-pics!! Thanks for sharing with us stay-at-home slackers.
There was certainly something for every taste (or lack of).
Guess that I will never "get" the ghetto wheels and o-ring tires on early pre-48 cars.

Thanks for the great coverage! I used to do this kind of picture quantity on a different website every year and it's amazing how so many will look but so few will express appreciation.

    Kudos on an awesome job.

  23. To start with, I refuse to photograph ANY car under a tent. I don't care how much money the owner has wasted buying or building it. The tents should all be outlawed and, besides, they cast horrible shadows on the vehicles.

I spent most of the day on Thursday judging new products and walking through the exhibitor building. A lot of the stuff I shot in there went in the trash because people kept getting in the way or the shadows were to difficult to cope with.

I walked the field on Friday morning then went over by Kentucky Kingdom and went through that lot.

I worked in the safety tent on Saturday morning while my car was in MoPar country so I didn't shoot any pictures until after 1:00 p.m. when I walked back to MoPar country to get my car after my stint inspecting cars.

After the give-away I drove my '34 to the Crowne Plaza, parked it, then walked back over and shot the area around the NSRA Safety tent.

Anything is fair game as long as it's presentable or, otherwise, unique.

I hope this explains the "variety".

I haven't been to a National for many years, what's with all of the cars parked indoors with barriers around them?

The cars with the ropes are the Builders Showcase in the lobby, that started about 10 years ago, the other indoor cars are part of the individual vendor's display. We had gone almost every year since '87, but pops messed up his back and is too proud to get a scooter, so we haven't been for the past 5 years.
