Awesome! My Buick Nailhead kinda runs like that, and I know it's hitting on all 8, all the vacuum lines suck (literally) so it's good to know that it will probably run a lot better when I clean all that up.

Your car is one to take examples from, and is drop dead gorgeous What clutch, transmission, throwout bearing, flywheel, adapter plates, bellhousing did you use? Im building up my ‘50 coronet with a 55 291 desoto hemi and id like to make it a manual, but for all i know is that they came with push button powerflites. Oh man! When I put the 4barrel manifold on my Y block, I fought with it for days. Finally put a tube on the carb base, took a big drag on a stogie and blew into the tube. Not a ton to update here. I've been focused on my house while the weather is good, but I have still been toying with the car some in my spare time. I put a set of CC spiders on the wheels, and a pair of taller L78s on the rear. I have buttoned up a couple of minor oil leaks. I have been working on wiring up the power windows - what a pain! I wired up an iPod stereo for some tunes. I still need to get a real alignment and take it on longer drives. But so far it has close to a hundred miles on it and it runs and drives pretty good! Here's a really short and boring video of it going through the gears.
Big shout out to my dad and my friend Dave for all their help in welding up the door handle holes! Who says you need a $80 3M PanelBond gun? We made it work with an old caulk gun, a couple of sockets, and some zip ties.
Sway away offered to make me custom torsion bars for the Plymouth/dodge/firesweep length if i sent them in for about the $500-600 range. IF the ends are the same size as the later bars it might be cheaper... Sizes available up to 1.24 diameter if i remember right. If you want big t-bars, thats your hot ticket vs a set of 300 bars and would be offer more spring rate than even the 300C/D bars did. My plan was 1.15 or 1.2 for my firesweep vs the hard as hell to get 1.11" 956/57 bars that sell for $500 anyways when they do pop up. Does the Hot Heads intake clear with that hood scoop? looking at something to clear it for my Firesweep...
My scoop isn't open on the bottom. Even if it was opened it up, it wouldn't come close to fitting a HH intake and typical aftermarket carb and air cleaner. There's only about a quarter inch of clearance with the stock (flattened) intake and (laid over) air cleaner. Take a look at the picture and you'll see my scoop is only about a half-inch higher than the stock hood where the carburetor is. Thanks for the tips on the T-bars, I will look them up!
Gotgas, really hoping the plan is solid, deep, blackest, BLACK. Since the trunk is already shot, do you have a specific brand/line/mix you'd like to share? It's always a good topic to cover with paint formulas constantly changing.
Ummmmm ya might wanna grind that out of there and finish welding..any adhesive expands and contracts at different rates than the metal. It’s recommended for gluing flanges of body panels, not patch panels. It’s extremely strong, but when you open a tube of 3M 8115 up it shows the 1/4 panel Application and they show welding the sail panel cut for that very reason. Eventually a bond line may show up under your paint work. There was a very nice mild Kustom done Here years ago and the owner glued the headlight rings of his 54 ford on. I gave him a heads up...about 3 months later I saw the finished car...could see the bond line plain as day...he said....I know..I know.. Great car btw, just wanted to give you a heads up
It's PPG, I'll have to look up the code. It's just straight black. Thanks for the heads up. I think we're gonna rock it. It's welded about 80% of the way around and this is just to fill the small gaps. It will have plenty of time to shrink, we won't be doing finish body work for a few months.
