Event Coverage Bonneville Speed Week 2018

In the past, the HAMB guys have got together at the end of the pits on the spectator area around 2-3pm on Sunday?

 

I have the banner but this is going to be a quick trip and we need to run the wheels off the new roadster so I decided not to plan anything. Drive Fri leave mon

 

Be there some time friday! May start driving after work Thurs

Ford flathead six it would appear. I would really like to hear more about your car and how you do on the salt. Anything to share?

 

Back in the late 60's when I was a kid I started working on bikes, then lawnmowers and then cars. If someone would have told me 50 years that I would be on the Bonneville salt flats tuning a engine with a laptop, I would have said,,,,,What the fuck is a laptop!!

 

Not much to share yet. Flathead Ford six with a hotter cam, Cyclone head, home built intake, modified '65 Falcon header, balanced, a little porting, Mopar HEI Ignition. Hoping to go fast and have fun.

 

Pretty cool. 226? Looks like a street driven Bonneville car. If you ever think about mechanical fuel injection for it. Give me a holler.

All loaded up and at the ferries now. 1000 miles to go.

 

We left around 8am this morning
And it’s a hot trip
Blue past by Primm planning our first stop at Loves the other side of Vegas
It’s over 100 and the dash AC doesn’t work in the motor home. I have roof air but that would call for running the generator for the AC
Chick is driving the diesel with her street Roadster on the trailer. Before you pegs us trailer queen imagine 110 in an open Roadster for 8 hours
Ended up at our favorite rest stop the Kirsch Wildlife
But do I need a shower

 

Is this still ongoing? I ask since it is my first visit and I have definitely no local knowledge... it would be really great meeting some other HAMBers in person out there...

Sunday at 2:00 it is.

 

I will be there as a spectator with some of the guys in the club we are in Look for the Midnighters shirts.

 

Sunday 2 pm it is then... We will be there in a smaller (for US standards ) RV, most probably plastered with the name of the rental company...

 

You can just see the pits setting up on the right on Wednesday afternoon

 

This morning. Things appearing on the salt.

 

We got to Bonneville this evening. Usually stop over in Elko but decided to drive straight through. Quite a few campers already here in the gravel parking lot across from the truck stop.
