Technical Alternative to Classic Instruments ?

So I picked up this gauge cluster at Jalopyrama last October and got in touch with Classic Instruments for a quote for refurbishing. Kinda pricey, is there anyone else who does this ?

Seems like there's someone on here that does speedometers. Not sure if he does other gauges as well. Hopefully someone will remember his screen name for you. Classic Instruments is good, but yes they are a little pricey.

It looks like you could spend a few hours cleaning and touching that up and it would look fine.

I'm with other's here who said just clean it yourself. My guess is it's worth $X.. now, whatever a restoration service charges it may even depreciate the value.
It looks to be in great condition to be 85 years old.

Classic Instruments make some great products but they do get pricey. I have been using Dakota of late and have had zero issues. Also a tad cheaper normally.

 

Speedo and gauges,,,Best on the HAMB,,,Williamsons in Chester,Ark...

 

Maybe I should spend some time looking into testing it, you guys are right. The graphics are in great shape but the trim is kinda funky. Maybe just the speedo needs calibration.

There is an old tech week thread by mj40's on how he put later model guts in his 40 Ford instrument cluster. You could probably do the same. Look for similar gauges at the wrecking yards. I followed mj40's lead in my car and am quite pleased with the results.

Dino, agree with checking out Williamson's. They used to have a '33 Dodge instrument panel that they restored on their website's Gallery page.
