Was walking through the local Pick and Pull yesterday to get a few parts for my Jeep and tripped over this hulk. Been in and out of the place a hundred times but don't usually see anything there this old. Still had some useable parts on it from what I could see. Shame they will probably get crushed in the end. Anyway they are located in Wilmington NC if anyone can use parts off it.

  5. If not the entire vehicle, someone should save the engine at least.

Yes. I looked at em closely. They seemed to be solid. Chrome had some pits. They both looked about like the one that shows in the picture.

  11. Unbroken steering wheel, small dash knobs, stainless, engine, maybe an overdrive transmission....I see a LOT to strip off of that car.

31Dodger I think it was an overdrive transmission. I think it had 2 solenoids on the side of it...

The OD transmission is worth getting to resell.

I'd harvest some of the stuff off it but I really don't have the extra time or space to put anything. I have a storage unit now that is half full with stock flathead intakes, exhaust manifolds, heads, starters, 3 speed transmissions, bell housings, a 66 mustang 289 complete, a rebuilt Chevy 80's 305 , fiberglass model A sedan fenders and so on... Didn't want to get rid of anything while still building my 31 roadster but thats coming to an end. Cant seem to find anybody around here much interested in any of it and at some point I want to stop paying storage fees for this stuff so some of it may end up being scrapped as well.

Extremely unlikely to be an overdrive in that year and model......far more likely to be a Gyromatic semi-automatic which used solenoids for some of the gear changes. So far as I know, not a big market for Gyros......

Somebody whacked that glass after it got to the yard, probably. Missed those tail lights, they are cool. I'd be willing to bet that Spitfire six could be running in twenty minutes......
