I'm glad you asked, because I'd like to know myself.

I've used Peel & Seal on 2 cars, it works well and is comparatively inexpensive vs the alternatives. Available at Lowe's in different widths, you'll find it in the roofing materials section (it is intended for sealing up roofing seams and ventilation systems.. A single layer works pretty well, but for best heat rejection I'd go with a double layer.

I'm going to use lizard skin. I saw them at a show once where they had a skillet and painted half with Lizard skin and set an ice cube on it and it did not melt. when they put it on the other side it sizzled away in a few seconds. I was sold.

I used Dynamat. Install was easy. A little spendy but it seems to be the product others compare to so I figured that was a pretty good endorsement.

  10. The peel and stick stuff isn't really a great heat insulator IMO, it starts to melt above 120 degrees. It is a very good sound insulator. Best stuff for heat I've used is a 3/8" thick felt between 2 layers of shiny foil....I used it on my COE engine cover.

Every lizard was fully melted to be able to spray them on evenly.
The Lizard skin is a fantastic product, but if you're going to use it, do all the floor area and anywhere else you want to insulate. It's not cheap, but good value.
I have no skin in the game, just a satisfied customer.

I've had Peel N Seal on the inner side of my roof for over five years here in Phoenix with zero issues with summer temps over 115 we are looking for a 118 on Tuesday no melting or smell.

  14. That's great to know, thanks. Does it keep your car cooler inside?

  15. You need something thick. I was able to find a factory type pad for my car. It does a good job. If you use something like Dymamat, it should be 1/2" thick.
