Not Bonneville or HAMB related. But first sit on 300 mph bike at Bolivia. I expect to have this post deleted. But it is salt racing.

I hope nothing gets deleted in this thread. Bonneville thread should have a little more leeway I would hope.

Altered my route option to swing through, hoping to make it out the 16th or so for a few hours of spectating before we continue to Seattle/Alaska. First time for me!

Plenty to see on Sat/Sun? I'd like to make it out there but can't get away for more than a weekend.

We leave NJ on Aug 5 and plan to arrive on Wed evening Aug 8. The 608 AA/GL will once again attempt to set the record in our class. We have ran over the 314 record but never could get the AM backup run to work out. See you all there. 582 BBC on gas with two 4 bbl carbs and a 4 speed. We do have the unofficial title of the fastest unblown gas lakester exit speed ever at 322.

Ah,ha!! I saw the big difference between the pictures of Tuesday, AM and PM. Tuesday morning I saw lots of tire track, potholes and brown areas. Tuesday night it looked all good again.

Got the calendars from the printer on Monday,,, Friday we learn if we have a sales area on the No. Start line or we get banished back to the vendor area.
I will put up an ad in the for sale area for contact info.

Going for the first time. I'm only about 450 miles away in northern NV. I don't have any hotel or camp ground reservations (waited way too long before deciding to go) so thinking about loading up my '34 Ford in my 20' enclosed trailer and then just sleeping in the trailer. Going to meet up with some friends and they told me I could park the truck/trailer along the road on the way in and stay there. Going to rig up a partition inside the trailer and have bed, drinking and cleaning water, stove, portapotti, a/c and generator, etc. Is anyone else staying on the road or has done it before? Do they have out houses set up anywhere?

Park your truck trailer at the BEND IN THE ROAD.
There will be room to maneuver and many others camping. It is free.:)

CAHotRod Boy, There is more free camping there than you could ever use. They camp at the bend, but if it rains it is not a good place to be. There is a road at the bend that goes up into the foothills. Literally unlimited free camping up there. There is a pretty big campground about 1 mile up and it may have outhouses. But I know there are some at the bend.

    Cool! Thanks for the info.

Speed week is Aug 11 through 17. Not sure if I'll spend the whole week there or not as I'm not a big fan of extreme heat and I know it is going to be HOT! Do most people go up on Sunday (the 11th)? When does the most action take place?

Sat-Sun-Mon are big days. A lot of people are not ready to run on Sat. Some who are, are too ready and don't go easy at first. Those people may not be running on Sun. As the week goes on, people drop out. Some get faster.
