Projects Dodge This - 1939 Dodge Southeast Gasser Build

This Friday night July 13 come on out to Atlanta Motor Speedway - not commerce -

 

Very nice the way they have put the names of the people with the cars now you can have a mental image of them when seeing other cars.

 

Banger, you really have to See one of these races! The videos are great, but the Real thing is even Better.

 

Just had an inspiration! SEGA trading cards, get 'em All! Do they still make that flat, always stale bubblegum?! Where's Stephen, he needs these.

 

I loved that bubble gum! Probably not good for your teeth.

 

I think I have a few packs of hockey cards kicking around still un-opened with some gum still in it!!!

 

That was fun . Wasn’t sure what to expect but the pit road Dragstrip worked pretty good

Not much - swapped his Holley to an edelbrock and he got new tires after one of his dry rotting ones popped in the neighborhood.

Got Gabriel and Quain to set the ladder bars and the car isn’t leaping to the left like it was.

 

Working on the backup engine now.

Wow what a race! We were going to skip this one because of the distance but decided to go last minute. My buddy @3dnsouth went with us and I had pneumonia after Myrtle Beach so he drove the rig.





And with all the good tracks - single lane gravel road -


We arrived and started working on the car



We had some testing on Friday night and the dang car wouldn't go into 2nd gear - 3 times!!

So we worked on stuff and ate


Then we raced!

Ok - so here is where it gets good. I did my best to not qualify last - that's how you draw Silver Streak - who puts me on the trailer every time. Busting out a good 6.00 run I figure I'm safe. Que Jeff Jacobson who runs a 5.67 and puts the Streak down a notch - into my notch - again

The Crew chief says - "I got this" she jumps in his car on the way to the starting line



I'm thinking she found the coil wire or put a block under the gas pedal

We stage

We leave - I win

 

So what did she do? She tells Kenneth "look the only way you can lose is to red light - go easy on the light and you got this"

I treed him.

Man, that shot of the missus hoop'n it up should be framed and hung on the shop wall.
She's no doubt earned it.

 

I was kinda in shock - she knew what was going on so she was off the hook when it worked LOL

 

I should see if my heap would make the Super / Stock class.
