  8. Your pop had a killer flamed '40 coupe, too, if I remember correctly. Hope all is well with you, Jim!

Yes he did, that’s the one.
He loved ‘40 Fords. Had other ones over the years too. Those two were the best!!!

  10. Back in the early part of April, I dropped off my beater coupe, in the St Louis area, to Bob Barrett, Andy Anderson, and Don Albers, who call themselves "B.A.D. Upholstery". I picked up the car on July 1. I asked them not to do anything too fancy, in the trunk, because I plan on putting in a stock rubber floor mat, after I clean up the floor and put some peel and seal down on the floor for radiant and sound barrier.

I chose to go with something that looked fairly stock, with the stock ribbed pattern. I asked Don to sew in the ribs into the jump seats, as they were originally flat. He carried that theme into the rear panel, and I REALLY like how it turned out. I had them use Nassimi Symphony "Vintage" vinyl, and Don absolutely hated it. He said it was stiff and difficult to work with, but I gotta say, it looks pretty dang cool in real life.

I really like the stock pattern , simple plus it matches all the "ribs" that gives a 40 it's character !!

Here's my project. Got it from a buddy at work. He has a 40 pick up and a 40 coupe. He had a hard time letting this one go. 20180611_125048.jpeg

Here we go again. An other 40 coupe in the works. At 75 gotta get going!! Got it back from paint friday-glad wife is understanding--hood in master bedroom and fenders/dash in living room! It will take about 10 weeks to complete if I hustle minus upholstery. It is for a friend who has 3 from here already-he's nuts!!

  24. I would bet that's more a response to poor sales due to gradually downward slide in demand for all things pre-1950ish. Demographics can be a bitch...……..

I saw Carpenters coupe bodies on sale as well. We could always find a nice roller for a decent price and there are lots of parts to find if you bought a New body-only made sense to me if you had a complete car with all the parts. Some years ago (2013) we were at a swap meet. My wife spotted a 40 std coupe on a trailer and said lets go look at it. I told her I was done. She went and looked it over-guy probably wondered what does this lady know?? She checked it out underneath, checked to gaps and crawled up inside and checked the quarters etc. Looked in the trunk and pans etc. We were ready to go and she said let's go back and look so we did. I looked it over-was very good and complete on a stock chassis with all new Chassis Engineering pieces and all the parts there. She bought it and it wasn't much more than a Carpenter body but all there-was a very nice 40-she still regrets that we sold it-says it's the best 40 we've ever done out of 14-15. It was the poster car this year for the 40 Ford day show in LaPalma park. A while back we found a 40 coupe-fresh paint, chassis done, new glass all new drake pts,9", all trim, int pieces all painted-quality work!! Pd $30 for it but it had alot of the $$$ stuff done-finished it in 6 weeks for a friend-had won many shows. They are out there. I have a guy who is a friend and has 3 from here and another above in the works and an other guy who calls often about buying mine--the market may be shrinking but there are still folks who have interest in nice 40"s.

Here's a hoot, young grandson (a gamer) turned me on to the fact that Forza Motorsports 7 (a driving game) has several hundred cars you can choose when you play and one of them is a '40 coupe! Never would have known except my grandson knew it was like "pop's car". I believe this may be the only post on this long thread that uses "gamer" and "'40 coupe" in the same post.
Looks like in the picture it is doing a "revenuers are close behind u-turn. tumblr_m59zr3X6Th1rnd0pno4_1280.jpg
