But I personally have NEVER seen these fail from a torque application. As far as setting this rear suspension up... Try to calculate your final pinion angle,.. Only tack weld the axle tube, After total mock up is done and car is under full sprung weight, Check your pinion angle. If it's off just cut the tack weld, adjust the "PA" and weld it up. IMHO Here's the last chassis I built with them,.... 392 Hemi, TH-350, 9" Bonco rear with 3:50 Traction lock.. and a 40' Merc front spring.
I'm with you, this car has been on the road for 14 years and 27,000 miles, no bracing and they are wider spread in the front than most applications. Though it does run a skinny rear tire.
