Event Coverage Pictures from my Oregon Vacation

One of my kids lives in Oregon, so we went for a visit. There was a Vette show in his town, so I went expecting to see all late models. Most of it was new stuff, but with a few interesting things thrown in.

 

Next, it was on to Portland for the Rose City Round Up.

 

After that, we went to the Portland Art Museum for the "Shape of Speed" exhibit, which happened to open that day. Lots of amazing art deco streamlined cars and a few bikes.

 

Next day, we went to a minor league baseball game and spotted this in the parking lot.

 

For the rest of the week, we went to Eastern Oregon. Saw these in Pendleton.

 

We went to Lake Walawa, and saw this stuff in a nearby town named Joseph.

 

Cool pictures, especially of that museum exhibit. All class back then. Thanks for sharing.

 

We took this pedal rail cart thing on a ride and saw this coupe at the turn around point.

 

The next place we stayed was Baker City and this yard art was just outside town.

The next Saturday, we were back to Salem and checked out a local show in Carlton.

Last stop, Portland Airport for the trip back to Newark. This Crosley was a prop at a restaurant there. I had won a similar Crosley station wagon from a Crosley Club raffle at a car show a few years ago. I drove it about 5 miles and decided to sell it, since it was like driving a slow go kart. Having this one as a prop seems like a much safer use for it.

 

I hope you enjoyed your visit to Oregon. It looks like you put on some miles. Next time you'll have to visit the World of Speed museum, just south of Portland, in Wilsonville.

 

I saw the World of Speed building when driving past it on I-5, so I'll have to try to see it next time.

 

That '39 DeSoto or Chrysler Hayes bodied coupe is one scarce auto ...

Great photos of what looks like it was a really fun trip. You even caught a HAMB car or two in the last two photos of the Rose City Roundup coverage.
That little 29 RP belongs to a lady of indeterminate age who has been at rod runs and car shows as long as I have been back in the PNW. You are likely to see her and that car at any hot rod event you show up at in the PNW/

 

As a native Oregonian [32 years] it was nice to see the background shots. I knew a guy who had a black airflow 2 door EXACTLY like the one in the photo. Had it at a parts store in in Omaha. Loved the Delahey's too..
I'll be going back to Oregon when I can but most of my relatives have died off or moved away.

 

Do you happen to remember the restaurant name ?
