  2. I was there Friday through Sunday. I had no idea how cool this event was going to be. Yes it's grown to a large scale and yes there were cars around that did not meet the traditional hot rod definition. But, in a way, I found that an added benefit and the off topic cars didn't take away from the amazing hot rods and bikes there for the race. The beach parking outside of the gates was not regulated to my knowledge and did have a huge variety of stuff. Again, I thought it was a good addition. Two motorcycle riders got hurt pretty bad. From what I'm seeing on social media they are recovering and will be alright. They will just have some healing and issues to deal with for a while. Both guys are bad asses in my book because they took some terrible spills. I think TROG will go through a change if it continues. I fear that the wrecks are going to require a lot of headaches from the law man and the insurance man. I also think that Mel has some soul searching to do and some rethinking for an event that has grown successfully. If you heard his very emotional comments at the close of Sunday's race, after the second wreck, you heard that he has a special place in his heart for the safety of all the racers. They are his friends, new or old. Our club spoke with him back at their compound after Sunday was over and his discussion was very much for the safety of everyone. I don't know Mel personally beyond meeting him this past weekend but he seems like a hell of a man. He went through some epic shit for TROG 2018 and kept it together. Glad to have shaken his hand and given him a hug of friendship. If TROG happens next year I will try my hardest to make it. It was a trip I'll remember for a life time.

Great job by Mel and crew but move it back to October and add a swap meet on Friday.

The picture of the A roadster with the undropped axle, suicide suspension... I dig it!

Who has a " sled" they wanna trade for a Model A coupe? The more I look, the more I like them. And I'm not as agile as
I used to be! Those look BIG and comfortable for a busted up old guy! Excellant photos from everyone.

Anyone got info on Paul Aldrich? He was involved in an accident (coming to TROG) in Tom's River, NJ ( so f'ing close !). He's a major player up here near Boston, and a helluva nice guy. I just hope he got all his stuff home OK. DSCN3922.JPG His old Ford wagon took a shot to the front end, and his trailer broke - race car he restored ( refurbished) was OK and he got it to the beach. He's a trooper!

Saw Paul yesterday. All his stuff is back from N J and now he's figuring out a plan to get his wagon back together. I saw him at TWO different swap meets over the weekend, and he seemed much better. Thanks to those that helped and offered to help. Big thank you to my buddy, "Fordgasser" .

Naw, the secret hand shake, is the old guys wash their hands once in a while and besides "shaking hands" to us is old age tremors. And the goats? It's because we're all "old goats". Not to worry, your safe there. Bill

He was away Sat. and didn't make it Sunday. I talked to him by phone Sat. and I gave Paul his cell number. George offered to help in any way he could , but apparently Paul made it back on his own.
I met George 3 years ago when he offered the use of a motor to "DaddyRay" who was having problems with his. Stand up guy, and a real hot rodder/ drag racer. ( sorry if I embarrassed you, lol)

Posting these is a real service to those of us who can't easily get up there. I really appreciate seeing them, and the trouble you are taking to share them. Wes
