Question, is this a clean up as part of a mining operation, or is this a method of removing loose rock as part of a highway construction project. I have never seen anything like it before except as part of a placer mining operation, and the picture doesn't fit what I have seen.

A dirt roadway fills the foreground, while the outcrop can be seen lining the roadway. Beyond the outcrop a forested area is also present in the image.

Thanks for the response. So, road building is the answer. I just thought it was a smart way to knock down loose rock, rather then sending rock pickers up the hill.
